We have a saying "(put your) finger in the poo poo" and I haven't seen a more apt demonstration of these words in years. 10 minutes into the video, still laughing 😅
was literally scrolling through the timestamps at the start wondering why the Seahawks weren't one of the teams discussed and then heard the opening line lmao.
I've got an idea for a show idea in late winter/early spring that can break the monotony of draft prep. Why not go through some basic football scheme concepts (offense or defense) that some people might not know? Examples: - Difference between zone, power, duo and other types of runs - Coverage rules between middle field open/closed looks - Types of blitzes and what their goals are - How to construct a gameplan that has continuity late into a game Stuff like that.
Brett saying "well, of course, because they're the Browns" and meaning something positive is one of my favorite moments from this entire football season.
The 49ers-Ravens DeepDive is a decent idea, but that game feels more fun in the abstract than analytic - the best of each conference in a Proto-Super Bowl dueling on Christmas Day? That's peak football Romance, and it's likely best kept that way. Yes they're still scrumming for their respective 1st seeds, but there are still so many nooks and crannies to be explored for the teams around .500 seeking a seat at the postseason table. As an alternate suggestion, while you spent some time with the Colts today, I'd love to see an episode exploring the AFC South glow-up that happened under our noses this year. Three teams with the same 8-6 record? Huge. Toss in how TN plays 2/3 of them in the final weeks, and it's sports opera 101
Saints fan here. My opinion on the Derek Carr thing is this: Going in, when we signed him, I thought "Okay, not necessarily the move I wouldve made", but knowing that I always thought he gets too much hate and was actually a very decent QB, I was ready to just go and see what happens. Safe to say, it's been a bumpy ride, but he's shown flashes, and we definitely have a bunch of other problems where I'm very certain he'll play better once they're solved. I think we could've been a very solid team this year if we had a better O line which would surely help Carr play better, as well as a different OC. Not a fan of DA as a HC either, so I'd propose we fire DA and Pete Carmichael, start getting rid of some of our aging veterans that cost a lot of money, and start building something new around Derek for now. Right now, I feel like it#s obviously been rocky, but we shouldn't pull the plug on him just yet.
I was wondering what kind of black magic allowed the Drew Lock game winning td drive followed by a game sealing pick but now I know. The Kollman curse strikes again. Classic.
Here's a suggestion for an off-season podcast separate from the draft or the season previews. Normally, we look at a team on a weekly or seasonal basis, but there are some teams that have had major issues over the past few years, not just recently. A look at the teams with a few consecutive poor seasons, bad moves or bad decisions, or other weirdness and how to fix it could be a cool podcast. A podcast that goes over how the Panthers, Giants or Patriots can rebuild from a few years of dysfunction in the draft or otherwise could be a really fun idea.
How many bottles of Malort would be required to have Brett and EJ run a full 7 round blind mock draft for every team? I am willing to fly them to LA and Seattle
24:28 I think Brett is misremembering his stats there, 73 QBs (and 21 WR, RB, P ect.) have recorded a passing attempt this year. the total number of starting QBs this year is 58 after the Steelers-Bengals game, which is huge but the single-season record is still from last year at 66. 58 would still be roughly average compared to the last two decades.
You guys realize the Browns have 9 wins, right? If they lose to the Texans and Bengals, but beat the Jets, they will be a 10 win team. They only have to win 1 or 2 of the remaining 3 games to get in. I would say there's a greater chance the Browns win out and tie the Ravens than there is they miss the playoffs entirely. Ravens play Miami and 49ers still.
@@coop-us7tpbecause of Watson. Their coverage of the browns is borderline unprofessional due to their personal biases Plus theyre texans and bears fans, so im sure they're extra salty at the chance their most hated team beats both of theor teams
@@King_Immanuelok... Are we wrong though? Browns are very much in control of their own destiny with two VERY winnable games and then a third game against a team you matchup extremely well with, but they talk about the browns like they need some lucky breaks to make the playoffs. Which again, doesn't surprise me Texans and bears fans salty that their team lost to the browns practice squad offense. They haven't covered the browns fairly all season and it's because they've made it very clear as long as Watson is in Cleveland they don't care for the browns. And I get it, I'm not saying there's no reason to hate DW4 but when they don't cover games/teams fairly it starts to border on unprofessional as two otherwise very smart dudes talk like they don't know squat about the team
Carr has had one good game as a Saint. I don't think he's either a long term or short term solution and he was brought in by a lame duck coach who needs to get kicked to the curb ASAP. I have no faith in this coaching staff when it's taken them more than three seasons to figure out that Zack Baun is a decent pass-rusher and not an OLB, or not letting AT really get on the field till Michael Thomas went down (again).
idk how you talk about the Colts and not mention that they are #1 in turnover margin. Yes, there are games where Minshew turns it over and throws away the game. But much more often Gardner manages the game and does just enough to win. I don't think Brett is actively trying to be bias against the Colts. But bias leaks in literally every time he talks about them. Can't wait to beat the hell out of the Texans week 18. Maybe he'll abandon them again and root for some other gawd awful franchise. Probably will.
I'd feel better about 'em if they fire McDermott. Did you read any of the *other stuff* that came out in the articles about him that came out at the same time as the terrible analogy? I only started watching the NFL last season. _I noticed_ that the Bills tended to revert to Familiar Plays on O & D whenever it felt like the game got tense. & that's exactly what was contained in the articles. When *_he_** tightens up,* McD takes over the play-calling. That Eagles game? They were up in OT, then Hurts went down the field faster than ever, as if he'd been conserving his strength. Not so. McD tightened up & called "high-2 shell_ giving Hurts the entire field to throw to at will. He _threw that game away_ with his play-calling. Not the only time either. He needs to go.. Aside from maybe Staley, no other HC is wasting talent as much as him.
