Fascinating that so many great modern hitters are going to an abbreviated stride with 2 strikes (Judge, Trea). Why? Here's my guess: Judge K'd 175 times last year. His BABIP was .448. If he had reduced his K's by only 25 and maintained his BABIP, his average would have climbed from .311 to .330! Naturally, that would have significantly increased all his other stats, both traditional and sabermetric.

This didn't age well as Trae had the worst 4 months of his career to start the season lol. He did turn it around like gang busters from August onwards. Then he went cold in the NLCS along with most of the rest of the Phillies. Here's to hoping for a more complete season of Trea at his best this season. In terms of his approach, I don't think there's much to break down. Trea has a great swing but he is very much a "see ball, swing at the ball" type of hitter.

Taking the leg kick out makes the adjustment on a per pitch basis easier. Can’t wait to see him crush this year

It definitely takes away from the torque and power you’re able to generate. It’s all upper body. Some players are powerful enough to hit bombs without coiling that power. Majority will not. I hit my best season average without any lower body movement but I had no torque to turn on anything and the majority of my hits were CF to opposite. Great for the average, not good for power

@@AFreeThinkingDawg09 A bunch of power not really needed because everybody throwing in the high 90s so if you get the barrel on it its going to go far.

Albert Pujols' swing is what I'm reminded of when seeing your break down. This is especially true when watching his follow thru BUT what do I actually know?? - I didn't even bother pulling up a clip of Pujols swinging the bat, 😬 BUT I did start on HS Varsity baseball team LoL!! Still as I said and using ONLY my 👀 ... that's what I'm SEEING! I enjoy watching these breakdowns - keep them coming!

You know the new rules are garbage when they need an obvious campaign by the network to make the rules palatable. We’ve already seen pitchers using the pitch clock rule to their advantage, and batters with the bat taken out of their hands in key moments. Essentially the MLB is trying to appeal to those who have never and will never watch MLB. Period. Nice job turning the MLB into the NBA bc you want “action”. That’s not baseball! Those responsible should be barred from the game. All they care about is money, not the game.
