What I find ridiculous is that they keep halting trading on these stocks. These hedge funds manipulate the market and individual stocks all the time with no repercussions. But when retail investors band together to get in a stock, the hedge funds completely block their access to the stock. It's bs that they keep getting away with doing that.
It is not very smart to short a company that has paid off their debt and has a billion on cash and is now offering same day shipping. They are using all their stores as tiny fufillment centers now, not even Amazon can compete with that.
Have you been in a GameStop lately? Trash company, predatory practices, overpriced and underpaid employees. Hedge funds are shorting it for a reason. Brick and Mortar stores can’t compete with Steam, GamePass, or Amazon
It is apparent that there isnt enough shares out there to close all the short positions. Short sellers borrow shares to sell. They will pay cost to borrow until they buy to return all the shares they borrow. There are a community of hardcore diamond hander who direct registered their shares. Means a lot of short sellers are stuck paying that cost to borrow indefinitely. Even if those community of people sell, there isn't enough to return because there are rehypothcated shares. A lot of hedge funds will go down, this will trigger a lot of chain of events. This happened before the 08 crash with Volkswagen stock too. Instead they blame the 08 housing crash, this time they will blame commercial real estate. The truth is the continuing illegal short selling. Greedy institutions ruining the world
Also robin hood didn’t halt trades (clearing houses do that) but they only allowed selling and not buying. Making the pressure go down on a crucial time.
Had this feeling about a month ago.... hesitated and hating myself for it. I did the same thing a few years ago when GME stonk was a thing. I would have made bank then. Could have this time too. But I played it safe and now I'm on the sidelines. Congrats to everyone that didn't hesitate!
Taking the buy button being taken has ben legalized since the Robinhood ordeal. It's called halt's now and it's only done to stocks they don't like/shorting. Stocks their long on run up without any.
I don't understand why retail traders fall for meme stocks manipulation all the time. This is messy tactics that sets traps for retail traders looking to get rich quickly or what they call lotto plays.Just nothing but crazy. 😮
@MinorityMindset Intresting but Fun Question, If Drake and Kendrick was a Stock what stock would they be and witch one would you invest in now and long term ?
I mostly invest long term. I treat trading like the 'speculative' part of your portfolio. I didn't jump on this recent bit with Game Stop, but I did do Game Stop and AMC last time. Almost too bad I didn't bet more because last time I won with all of them I did using a ridiculously simple strategy.
I’m not involved because it happens too quick. By the time anyone finds out it’s already too late. Best to stick with a system that actually works. Nothing happens over night. Slow and steady wins the race
I will stick my strategy i will continue to buy and hold because i am an investor and trader. I know what i am doing with my money thanks for the advice but i will stick to my plan.
Companies fight to be closest to the stock market at microseconds count on buying and selling. On reason transatlantic cables first laid so investors in Europe had a chance at USA markets in real time
Derivatives should be illegal for anyone to use who is a corporation, bank, or pension fund. Should be punishable by time in prison not a fine to make it an even playing field in the market.
Thats a terrible explanation. You forgot to mention that in order to short you borrow stocks, sell them and then need to repurchase them (hopefully at a lower price). And that if the price doesn’t go down, shorters become buyers just to close their position, thus making the stock go up by a lot quickly, making it a short squeeze.
Truthfully whether a RU-vid influencer with millions of followers or hedge fund people with millions of investors both can influence the stock market. HFT does not care about the above as just algorithms
I just want to know if the economy is so bad as dire predictions and the current data as discussed in the video - where is all this money coming from? or are things still really good out there? or is there still money fffom the printing press …. how is this going to play out if they raise rates inflation comes down if they cut rates inflationary prices go up - is there a number of how bad it has to get before they cut and how long will the cat and the mouse stop the game of cheese $$$
Roaring Kitty did not buy Gamestop for a short squeeze. He buys deep value stocks that are undervalued compared to their intrinsic value, especially considering the console cycle was about to begin, which has been historically very good for Gamestop. They also had more assets than liabilities at the time. I find it funny that you had to rush this video on your phone. Seems like someone paid you to do it or you're doing it just for engagement and not fully researching your bullet points.
You have a big problem if the GME ones expire after friday. Hundreds of thousands of calls expire friday, even more in the money if the price is above $40.
Oh no. You’ve been compromised clearly. Zero debt, talented management who regularly buy shares. Profitable. Shorted to oblivion. That’s GME. It’s not about buying into a rally, it’s about buying into a long term investment with solid fundamentals.
All of the run up on these "meme" stocks happened when the market was closed. This was not randos bidding up the stock because roaring kitty posted a meme.
Trading is no more "gambling" than "investing" lol. Saying trading is "gambling" is confirmation of your prior statement of "I don't understand trading". With that being said, thank you for the video and the valuable info that you made available.
Trading is 100% much more of a gamble than investing. Investing requires a much longer time horizon and a balanced portfolio of assets, which obviously negotiates both acute issues with a certain stock and broader issues concerning the market as a whole (short-term swings). Trading is subject to extreme volatility -- thus, gambling.
.i do not play video games i be on RU-vid watching financial education videos in and I need to watch a video on what’s a hedge fund and how it works congratulations to GameStop stock
The moment I saw the title “GameStop jumps 200%“ I didn’t even have to read the entire title to know that I’m not going to touch it. Anytime I hear any stocks are going “to the moon“ I avoid it like the plague.
