That's coach Greg for you. With 22 not being even close to 34, it would be normal to expect some jokes/teasing. Nope, coach Greg won't even do that, he immediately started listing the reasons why this was an amazing feat to watch. Talk about a motivational coach.

Greg did 34 reps with 402.5 lbs on the bar. I'm pretty sure Mitch did 22 reps with 595 lbs on the bar, hence why Greg suggested lowering the weight if he decided to reattempt the record. Not apples to apples
@AndyChamberlainMusic
@AndyChamberlainMusic 7 месяцев назад
@@KashiwaDaisuke greg did 50 reps with 402.7lbs, not 34. 34 was Mitch's target to break greg's record, but he was using a heavier weight

@elmosaarelainen9671
@elmosaarelainen9671 6 месяцев назад
@@KashiwaDaisukeWhat was proposed was trying to do 40 reps at say 500 might be easier than 34 at 595. It's actually quite reasonable, since the natural pace before Mitch tired was actually 1 rep / second. Assuming Mitch would sumo about 1000 pounds, it's a difference of 60 to 50 % 1 RM.

Greg is such a class act outside of his youtube persona! Being 6'6 and 300LBS myself, i understand that Mitchell has a good point about the range of motion needed for us taller guys, i say that to myself as well however, you also must take into consideration how much more mass you can put on compared to someone like Greg, therefore it evens out. That deadlift record is absolutely insane especially at Gregs weight. Mitchell did a really good job and i'm so happy seeing a "Not so monstrous" strongman beat the competition after people liek Brian Shaw have dominated it for a long time.

@miskee11
@miskee11 Год назад
enjoyed the vid but just wanted to note you may want a bit more external rotation in the hips in your sumo technique mitch. with this specific technique, external rotation just puts you in a more favorable position to generate power. think more about ur hip adductors doing work there. a lot of people new to sumo make the mistake to just have a wide stance but just standing wide doesn't really change the mechanics of the lift that much. but yeah, i personally struggle a bit with the sumo stance because i have fairly weak hip adductors & a little hip injury to boot.

Yes. It also depends on the equipment. The softer the bar and the more supportive equipment you use, the easier sumo will be. That's bc (generally) people are weakest off the floor with sumo and that's where all these things help. But yeah, other than that it's about leverages.
