@yourfav5head317 It is on him for having dead weight on his staff. Guys who can't recruit at an elite level and can't develop players. Hence, the Oklahoma defensive assistants he brought with him. For me, this class reminds me of the 2019 class. That class finished #20, and it was hurt by the 5-7 season in 2018. That class had four and mostly three star players but not a great class. The only guys who made an impact from that class were Drake Jackson and Drake London. The rest did absolutely nothing.

I completely understand what your saying but at the same time those stars mean absolutely nothing and we know that from experience look at Iowa and Utah they just guys who want to play football the right way and that's all you need

@w.e714 those schools have better coaches than what we just saw these last 2 years under Grinch. But yes, players want to be coached, and im optimistic about Lynn and Entz, but at the same time, not every three star player will play higher than what they were ranked.

Sean Cody, Mike Patterson, Sedrick Ellis, Jurrel Casey, Manual Wright, etc, weren't 300 pounds but they were quick fast and had great technique. Coached by Ed Orgeron of course. Guys like Kenechi Udeze, Omar Nazel, Frostee Rucker, Lawrence Jackson, Everson Griffin, etc, weren't 300 pounds but they were Explosive off the edge.

@@SportZFan4Ever Shaun Cody was listed at 307 in college. Mike Patterson at 300. I haven't checked the rest of those you name. Frostee Rucker was 267, but he played DE where speed is emphasized somewhat over size. Even then, today is not 2008 - there are now bigger guys that can really move. We need some big boys on the interior. That is sorely lacking.

@@BigDancin Mike Patterson was also 6'1". Sedrick Ellis too. Jurrel Casey was even shorter. Yet they were Dominant at their positions. This 6'7" 335 bullshitt is ridiculous.

That's what happens when you have a staff that only has 1 elite recruiter on the defensive side of the ball and have a coordinator who has proven not to be good and was fired during the season.

Man some of you guys really need to get of the early 2000s mindset and update your understanding of recruiting. Dude said, "All the top talent on the line in Cali has gone elsewhere..." You mean the 1 top Defensive Lineman in Souther California who ranks in the top 1000 players nationally??? Yes, in this class there is only 1 in southern California and 2 in the whole state that rank inside top 1000 players nationally, Aydin Breland in Southern California who is going to Oregon and Jerricho Johnson way up in Sacramento who is uncommitted. Just 2 in a state of 40 Million. USC has to look nationally just to have enough big body and ATHLETIC Defensive linemen for a roster, as they have always done actually despite what many fans mistakenly think. California produces way more skill position players than elite defensive trench players and SC gets more than their fair share of the best of those skill players. Also, LOTS of elite HIGHSCHOOL players, and possibly MOST are going to the schools with NIL situations that guarantee to pay them the most as RECRUITS. They go, get paid as freshmen, then they transfer. Check the portal, its full of highly ranked recruits... USCs NIL pays only EXISTING players so there are going to miss on a lot of those HS players looking to get guaranteed money, regardless of who the coach is. Thats a money and numbers issue, not a coaching issue.
