Hahhaa oo nga eh! Its one of the reasons we didnt want konov to go to Ateneo because they have similar play styles based from what I saw sa Gilas youth. -Maui
3rd generation green here. We were also shocked at the news. I'm sure he has his reasons, not everything needs to be made public. Good luck to Mason. Welcome to DLSU.
I kinda feel bad for ADMU. 1. They've been struggling offensively with Amos in the Pre-season and here we are getting the news that he Transferred to DLSU. sya nga lang yung potential go to guy ng ADMU side from Koon mawawala pa. 2. Tab being surprised that he left means, he didn't tell anyone that he's leaving. That will leave a sour taste in every ADMU fans. Kahit mga Team mates nya, even Gamber threw a bit of shade sa IG Story nya haha. 3. If ADMU doesn't felt the need to sound the alarm after all those losses in the pre-season tourney, I think this should. Kailangan nang makahanap ng papalit kay Amos, at Legit na FSA. But we only got 2 months and masikip na oras na yan. Pero kapit lang Sam, Gab and Maui. There is still hope for ADMU. Can I just say though. Bad move, Amos. Your development might get stunted dahil mawawalan ka ng significant minutes. Kita mo naman yung Log Jam ng Bigs sa DLSU. nandun pa si Konov at Pablo. Bakit dun pa. Pwede ka naman sa amin sa FEU Hahahahah charot
Thats a good thing tho cuz Topex System will forced Mason and Konov to work even harder esp Sa defense. Its revolves around the run and grind style of play. They will need to bring in if they want PT
Bad move is an understatement. For one you’ll have to sit out another year. Two, you can’t just rely on your Gilas stints to get collegiate or overseas exposure, and three, leaving a team with coach that has vast international experience is a head scratcher
I think Gamber just like throwing shade like that on social media lol. Iirc he threw shade to Jared Bahay too when Bahay committed to UP last year. And he kinda grilled Bahay when the latter joined his IG live. Parang nandun nga ata sa live na yun si Amos hahaha!
On the "Stacked" topic of the greens and maroons, from a coach's and manager's perspective, it is a "good" problem (But still a problem). But from a perspective of the student-athlete, competition kicks in, or in some case, reality...
That move is unexpected but as a DLSU fan, LFG!! Konov and Mason duo will be lit. Quinton Millora Brown, sayang di masyado na work on yung eligibility nya para maging local sa FIBA. But now, SBP must act quick when it comes to the Fil-Foreign guys that goes to the Philippines to play college ball.

Grabe sa top heavy ang UAAP ngayon. Some games will be down right unwatchable and this is setting a terrible precedent in terms of the bottom teams losing good players. IDK kung anong magiging effect nito..mag step up ba ang recruitment ng ibang schools? Or lipat bahay mga star players nila pag nabulungan ng top schools? Still I can't believe Ateneo is losing Amos to LaSalle! Di ako in the loop.. malala ba falling off ni Amos with Ateneo? Off all the teams 😂 taena nag LaSalle!

Hey Guys! Congratulations on getting new sponsors. Wishing you for more! Quinton Millora Brown - I agree he is not really needed because the current trio of centers are performing better than expected. Since UP was recruiting him for so long, they had to accept him when he finally decided to join the team. It's definitely Gagate who will be the odd player in this scenario. In fact, he did not join the team in Serbia; and Lopez too. Mason Amos - We should also consider that players leave because they do not like the style of their previous coach. We all know that Tab, Gold, Jeff Napa, and Jack Santiago are very demanding coaches. So it is not surprising if their key players decide they prefer to play under a coach who may be less intense. Topex is the type because he is laid-back and spiritual in his approach. On the other hand, it looks like KQ is leaving after Season 87. There is some speculation that he may have convinced Amos to take his place (ala Carl Tamayo to Francis Lopez).
Yeah, no choice talaga but to get QMB since they had been recruiting him for so long. And if you didn't get him, baka sa iba pa pumunta hahaha It might be the coach but from our discussions/long talks with Mason, we can confirm this was not the issue
@@bolerosph Hi! Considering he did not admit to Coach Tab when asked if he was leaving; I don't think he would tell you if he had a problem with Coach Tab.
Maybe. But gauging from our lengthy talks with Mason (and we've spent some time talking to him, not counting the on air recordings) and even his dad, let's just say if he was displeased with someone, he would say it
on qmb: all valid points by maui and gab, but sam hit it right on the head. imagine being 2 games away from a three-peat? lost g3 to admu in se85, lost g3 to dlsu in se86. masakit yun. add to that na up is the host for season 87. may funds naman ang maroons, im sure theyll do anything to solidify a championship for se87. all out na yan.
Agree. A great addition for UP to bolster their championship chances 👍 I just feel bad for Alter, Stevens, and Ududo. They were all already playing less than 15 mins a game (and playing very well) and that will surely go down to less than 10 mins per game, if ever they get to play. I'm assuming that QMB gets majority of the center minutes - Gab
@@bolerosph i feel who plays the worst D between alter, stevens, and udodo will take the hit on the minutes played. but also, i think they will be rotated to keep them somewhat happy. :D
Ngl, that move weak AF. I don't know about everyone else but we grew up watching guys like Enrico Villanueva and Larry Fonacier. Players that bled blue and white. Back in the day, players played for the name on the front of the jersey. Not the back.
Enrico and Larry are true blue. Mason kasi is not from AHS (technically he was for a year but went back home due to the pandemic). So maybe there’s less “pride” in being an Atenean. That’s why the Thirdy Ravena team was so special. They had so many guys from the Jrs. team (Ravena, Nieto bros, SJ, Mamu). I think ito rin yung nawawala sa Ateneo now e. The Jrs. program isn’t as good as before. Nieto and Porter lang. Sana Ford Arao can make them competitive again.
Haha the brightside of it all. Pero sakit talaga losing my favorite player for my team. Still hope it all goes well for Mason though. I believe he could be a big part of our future sa Gilas. -Maui
@@bolerosph At least the Ateneo rebuild will now be in full swing. Probably this will be a wake up call to all the Ateneo patrons na need na gumalaw galaw to get and keep the best talent out there. More power sa channel and more sponsors to come! Appreciate your hard work.
They haven’t officially announced it yet. So we don’t know the details. But Sen. Pia Cayetano already warned them about it. So there’s a chance they might not push through. Which I think is the right move. We can’t punish players for changing teams. There’s way more players like Jake Gaspay than Mason Amos. These are the guys that transfer because they cant get playing time. Kawawa naman sila if they move to get playing time and then we deduct 2 eligible years from them. Baka masira careers nila.
I was shocked when I first saw the news article about Mason transferring to DLSU. Akala ko pa nga joke because July 1 is int’l joke day hahaha. But it was a TBT article, so high chances na legit (and legit nga). I’m just puzzled as to why Mason chose DLSU because of the depth that he knows is already there and super dami niya kaagaw sa minutes. Mason and Konov have similar skills - both are tall guys with shooting, but not really that good on defense. Si Pablo rin kasabay niya papasok. Poli, KQ, and Mike Phillips will all still be eligible by Season 88 tho we don’t know if they’ll stay. Di ba nga si Poli muntik na umalis this offseason (one factor daw was pagpasok ni Pablo and recruitment of other bigs). Si Mike mukang malabong umalis agad because very particular ang whole family niya about commitment and education - his mom has a PsyD and his brother Ben is a PhD student doing a lot of things din (I swear grabe intensity ng Phillips family, parang di nagpapahinga sa dami ng ginagawa). As for KQ, may chance na magstay siya kahit madaming pro offers because he was instrumental in recruiting Baclaan and I think nakita naman ni KQ na maraming Filipinos who play abroad ay nababangko lang kahit magagaling (Tamayo being the most recent example afaik). I think Mason would’ve been in the best situation in ADMU to go off and show off his skills. Sayang, yun na sana “try-out” niya for a big contract abroad. Mason will have to fight for his minutes in DLSU. Ang ayoko lang sa decision ni Mason is the timing of the announcement. Hope this doesn’t affect the games of Gilas sa OQT. Side note lang, Mason’s transfer to DLSU will give more ammo to those who are pushing for the new residency rule na 1 year redshirt = minus 2 years of eligibility. Hope this rule doesn’t happen kasi mas marami talagang transferees who are just looking for minutes or who need to leave their current school due to non-basketball reasons. About QMB’s recruitment, may rumors daw na tho Gagate may heal on time, he won’t be ready competitively once magstart UAAP season (makes sense since he missed preseason prep). So it’s very possible na he won’t be on the roster to preserve his playing years. If Gagate plans to transfer, this is the time to do it. Para his redshirt year is dedicated to healing and getting better. If he decides to transfer, sana lang he’ll choose to transfer to a school kung san magagamit siya. P.S. Very happy for Geo Chiu! 🎉 Sana di lang siya ibangko.

For me, baka kinuha ng UP si QMB in case of a line-up na on the court si Philipps, Agunanne and KQ. They might deploy Ududo, QMB and Lopez. Pero yeah it's really bad for the dev't of our bigs.
Anytime you can get a player like QMB, even for just one season, you say yes. And agree w/ UP getting him specifically to counter La Salle. But may mawawalan opportunities for sure. Most likely it’s Gagate since he hasn’t played much for the team. Wouldn’t really blame him if he decides to transfer to get more playing time.
I believe QMB is a no brainier player in Gilas, what more a UAAP school? Don't care if they have 5 centers. You get that legit Div 1 big man to your team. WIN now and get that championship..
Too bad he's not eligible for Gilas 😭 But yeah, no brainer for UP to get him in for S87. It just sucks to be in Alter, Stevens, and Ududo's shoes right now
Is the UAAP eligibility rule for transferees still the same? Or has the UAAP changed it's eligibility rule for transferees to "sit down 1 season for residency but you will lose 2 playing years"?? And is that only for basketball or all sports???
@@bolerosph I hope it doesn't get approved. Moreover, that proposal for new eligibility rules for transferees would be unfair and unreasonable to those who are student-athletes in sports other than basketball and volleyball. They don't have any professional leagues in the Philippines to look forward to. Their sports careers are basically their 5 years in college. If the UAAP Board approves that new proposal for transferees, they SHOULD EXCLUDE the non-basketball and non-volleyball student-athletes!
I know this family, and most people have no clue about the real reason he moved - it’s all about the money his parents are after from the club. His mother, Tracy, is an absolute gold digger. You’ve never seen anyone like her. She took money from other clubs, fully aware her son would never even step foot in those schools, including shoping sprees and gifts. And don’t even get me started on his father, Cletz. He’s shameless. He’s been using his son’s name like a pawn, running camps with his son’s image plastered all over them, bragging on forums about how he’s connected with the big schools. He claims one call from him can guarantee your kid a starting spot. It’s a scam targeting clueless parents desperate to get their untalented, undersized kids into varsity. They pocketed every cent of Mason’s signing bonuses and bought themselves a house. Oh, and don’t be fooled about Mason’s height. Stand him next to a real 6’6” player, and you’ll see he is not 6’7”not even in shoes, on his tiptoes. But the worst part? CJ, Mason’s younger brother. They claim he’s 6’1”, but he’s barely 5’11” with little to no talent. Nobody at Ateneo would have touched him if not for being “Mason’s brother.” La Salle signed him, though, and paid a hefty price for it. So, the whole family packed up and sold out, showing just how low they’re willing to go. No honor, no pride.
Im feeling the same vibes when Dave Ildefonso transferred from NU to ADMU. Hoping the best for Amos tho. Were there big time players from ADMU before who transferred to DLSU and shined?
Gaspay would have had a chance. An energy guy. Good defender. Great pick up. Daja showed some promise in the PinoyLiga. Gives some shooting and athleticism to the Blazers. The Amos move was really shocking. Although I've been hearing rumors, didn't think that would happen especially with Bahay choosing to go to Ateneo.
Great pickup for the Blazers! And the kids still get a chance to continue their La Sallian education so good move din. Yeah, I think that’s why people are so shocked about the Amos thing. Cause he helped recruit Bahay to Ateneo. Then he changed teams before they get to play together. - sam
If a new rules of UAAP for transferring players will be followed Mason Amos's transfer will sit out dis year for season 87 and only has a single playing years left for LaSalle right since a transferee is obligued to loose two playing uears right
Mason went to Taft, bent the knee, and declared for House La Salle saw it sa one sports then kung ano ano pa tiningnan kong sources to confirm the news. di rin talaga ko naniniwala. Interesting sakin if La Salle recruited Mason or Mason reached out to La Salle. Obviously he wants to win a UAAP championship, and it's really UP and DLSU that are legit contenders. Either way, it's a rival school. And I think, since Mason's still young, yung UAAP na na-experience niya baka nga tingin niya UP pa yung bigger rival. But with his transfer to DLSU, umiinit na ulit rivalry. I'll be watching his first game vs Ateneo. We might get a throwback atmosphere 😂
@@bolerosphbut even if you don’t count the COVID year, he still would have played five years. 2018-19 played for Rice It was the 2019-20 season of NCAA that was cut short. There is no way he has another eligible playing year. Nagpapa uto na naman ang UAAP board sa backers ng UP if that’s the case.
"wala na ito", that was the reaction my dad and I had during dinner last night when Tie Breaker Times released Amos announcement of betrayal. I guess he wants to play the villain and be booed by Atenistas in Araneta. Baka idol pala niya maging BJ Manalo. He may have been a good student with good QPI pero pera lang pala at Taft na pupuntahan. Grabe lang sumama pa sa training sa Australia.
It is a bitter sweet departure for Mason, not gonna lie. He's a friend of the podcast, but this hurts Tbf, DLSU is a contender now and in the future so maybe winning was his motivation
With all the names that have been mentioned about LaSalle, people are forgetting one name. I mean understandable considering he’s had 2 acls in a row and hasn’t seen UAAP action. Rhyle Melencio. He’s only around 6’5 but he plays the wing position, SF and sometimes PF too. Imagine suffering injuries for 2 consecutive years and then coming back, if he comes back in 88, with all the talent in the world to compete with.

Jake Gaspay used to play with Roger Ondoa in Immaculada Concepcion College (ICC) and they were the one-two punch there. The La Salle program recruited them from ICC at around the same time. I agree with you guys na sinayang yung panahon with this move with Gaspay.
My thoughts on the Amos transfer to DLSU. I think he wasn't ready to be the go-to guy in ADMU as he's groomed to be. In DLSU, he has room to grow without that added pressure. For the S88 rotation, i think Policarpio will go pro after this season and not sure bout KQ as well.
Jonel already announed his departure from La Salle a few fays ago and will be in the PBA draft this July 14. His reason was that he already has a family to feed. LS isn’t really as stacked as they thought it ia.
FYI, many players of Barca (esp in their Golden Era) were products of La Masia. They were Barcelona’s Academy players. Most notable Academy players that recently joined this season alone were Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez and Hector Fort.

It's a good idea but you forget there is also a logjam with Cagulangan, Felicilda, Briones, Fortea, Torres, Abadiano, Alarcon, Bayla, and Walker (that's 9 guards/wings 😂) We've been pushing for Lopez/Torculas/Belmonte to play the 3 since last year but it still has not happened (and probably will never happen) because UP has to play 3 guards at the same time to accommodate that logjam
They did. During non-bearing games and blowouts 😂 but watch the DLSU-UP games. That's the real rotation of UP. Three guards, Lopez/Torculas at the 4 then the three centers (well, now 4 centers hahaha)
Not surprised players now no longer loyal to the teams which discovered and gave them the opportunity they just wants to join the bandwagon effect of joining a l loaded and seeded team expected to win championship,.i felt bad for Ateneo, seems like their recruiting had suffered big blows, could it be that their staunch backer MVP had shifted its sight to other priorities.
Karamihan ng naging problema ng student-athletes na umalis/inalis sa ADMU - academics. Hindi kaya ito ang naging problema ni Mason? Hindi ko alam ang kwento guys ha. Just asking out loud lang siguro.
I think Tab played him too much in the 4 or 5 position. He grew up as a 3. Amos and Konov would get a LOT of spot up threes from Cortez/Baclaan drive and kicks.
On the contrary, as told to us by Mason in our interview, he never played on the perimeter growing up in Australia. He played as a big man and Tab played him in his natural position
I would say that Tab utilized his offensive strengths (spot up shooting and post ups) very well in his rookie season. So it's a false narrative that Tab played him in the wrong position or did not utilize his strengths - Gab

We don't see them with 20-30 elite players pools? Multiple FSAs? Yes, players have the choice and final say.
