Yep. My wife and I make 3 times as much as my parents ever did, but we don't have a fraction of the disposable income. We don't take vacations. It takes months to recover from the holidays. It almost makes more sense to just stop trying and go on welfare.

You can plan all you want, yet, we can not predict the future... other than the biblical prophesies unveiling before our eyes these days. Praying we make it to 2027 and can meet our goals. So, if 80" Tvs and private yachts have dropped a bit in price they count that too. But working class and retired folks aren't buying those things, especially when they can barely afford to buy groceries. Inflation disproportionately affects necessities like food, medicine, energy, etc, but has little affect on luxury items. This is because when inflation is high like it is now, few people can buy luxury items. So, that keeps them from inflating much. But necessities are things people have to continue to buy even when they price goes up. So, those items are the ones that get inflated the most. As a consequence, working people suffer and struggle while the wealthy barely notice. That's why Yellen doesn't see the problem.

I can remember minimum wage at 2.75 you can walk into a restaurant an order a huge hamburger french fries and iced tea for a 1.25 and gasoline was 22 cents per gallon. A cold bottle of soda water 10 cents, a cold bottle of beer 35 to 40 cents, a dozen of eggs 25 cents, all this boils down to today is greed. All these big companies keep raising the prices to see what the market will bear, to make a high profit, when they do this and the prophet margin on their high prices are getting lower and lower because people can't afford or will not buy it then they start backing the prices down to make some profit instead of no profit. Grocery stores, gas stations, clothing stores, building and supplies, restaurants, automobiles you name it. So the best way to solve this matter it's just by what you absolutely need not what you want, when their sales go down they'll go down. And stay away from all credit if you cannot buy it and pay for it don't buy it.

Wage increases traditionally lag behind the price increases. Inflation is driven by money supply outpacing goods and services produced. More money without growing what is available to buy means money becomes less valuable (dollar buys less stuff). Low cost of credit and unrestrained govt spending is the culprit, and to a lesser degree the restrictions placed on production of goods and services in the name of slowing the spread.
