But the Olympics are not responsible for the individual athlete preparations. It just seem to me that both Shelly and Shericka did not race enough leading to the Olympics. The assumption is that their team were seriously prepping them. Its sad for Jamaica and may be its time to focus energy on the next generations, as Shelly and Elaine seems done and I don't know what is going on with Shericka.

@coachsdesktv I told you this news yesterday on live when I found out around the time news broke that Shelly withdrew from the semifinals. Shericka had no videos of her practicing like everyone else and when she admitted that no record expectation for this Olympics it was not reassuring for me as a fan so I wasn’t banking on her. Shericka, Elaine and Shelly is sadly missed and this Paris Olympics experience has not been the same. All these ladies physical and mental health recovery comes first we wish them all a speedy and snapback recovery as we pray their strengths. This is turning out to be a very disappointing Olympics. As a black American, I always look forward to seeing our friendly rivalries 😢 I feel bad for the mighty Jamaican female trinity. But I'm sure the Jamaican men will represent well. I wanted to see Mommy Rocket get the farewell send-off she deserved. I wished the Jamaican women a speedy recovery.
Everyone that is saying ‘why would you hide the injury and take someones spot’, is stupid. This is not a participation competition, it’s the pinnacle of the sport. Shericka earned her spot, and if she wanted to keep it open to give herself a chance to compete that’s up to her. Obviously the Jamaican team thought there was a chance she would recover in time to compete, and they realised that would be their best chance of getting a gold. In the end they were wrong, and that’s life, but better to take that risk than replace her with a nobody that had no chance of the podium. You all are naive for not realising sometimes you have to hedge your bets in life. Edit - I’m reading more comments and I just can’t believe my eyes. Do you people seriously think she waited until the last minute to pull out as some kind of late April fools joke! So naive. She didn’t want to give her competition a mental edge or have the media in frenzy until she was certain she couldn’t compete. I disagree to an extent. You are correct that it was her spot since she earned it, but once on the eve of the games, she was unable to run, then the spot should have been given to another athlete. Think about how invaluable the Olympics experience in the 100m is for Tia Clayton's development. This is the opportunity that was missed for another athlete. JAAA use to require that athletes show fitness before these types of meets and that needs to be brought back. I knew Shericka wasn't doing anything this Olympics. It was only a few weeks ago that she pulled up in a race and coupled with the fact she has hardly raced this season due to injuries. Also, JAAA has been left flat footed with all these injured athletes as it relates to the relay. Jamaica will cobble together a team but perhaps not the best possible team if JAAA was aware that Shericka would not be able to run.
@@adrian-lj4py some valid points, fundamentally the team had to make a decision that would involve risk either way they went. The team chose the option that had the highest risk but highest reward, which makes sense at the olympics where it means nothing unless you’re on the podium

Why would you announce that to anyone and then give your opponents a psychological advantage? No one outside of her camp needs to know. In previous years when she had strains and niggles and competed and won no one cared that she was injured. Now that she can not overcome an injury, suddenly they should have announced it to the world? That's hypocrisy and is illogical. Shaccari, I think, had a minor injury as well. Who has she told? No one.
It's a ghost town there in Paris I tell you 😢we saw that from trials 😢my daughter and myself sat and watch her limp pass us, and my daughter says to me mommy she's hurt😢we saw it then...and yes when she was pulled out of the 100 we knew right away she wasn't going to run,so it's not really a surprise really 😢but we continue to pray for them and ask the Lord to fix them

I'm ADOS, and there is nothing that I look forward to more than watching our teams compete. Jamaica represents strength, independence, and excellence on the track. Let's pray that the Jamaican women come through with speedy recoveries.

That's why you shouldn't count your chickens before they're hatched! I saw a lot of people predicting the amounts of medals and who will win what, but who can say it if God doesn't allow it. The words say to humble yourself and you will be exhaulted but I saw no humility up to now. Not on the part of the athletes, but mostly the Jamaican people and fans. We have always put prayers first as Jamaicans but not anymore. When we exhault ourselves, then we will be humbled. Action and reaction are equal and opposite, that's a fact. I only hope that we turn back to including the Almighty Yah in the midst, it's not too late.
For all the people saying why hide the injury, why is she there, and her taking other runners spot. Not sure if you know how this works but its not that simple. For one, whose to say that when she got injured they actully thought it was a cramp, but it was really an injury such as a hamstring strain. As a former sprinter, this is possible and they could very well feel the same depending on the cramp and strain. As a competitor who earned their spot to the olympics and who pretty much would have probably won both events, why wouldn't you try to get yourself together and give yourself a chance. If she skipped out and allowed someone else to run then it would still be as if nobody ran because they wouldn't have even made finals. She's there because she earned it, and i dont blame her. FYI, if her and Shelly Ann couldn't run, don't expect them on that 4x100 relay

As i knew she would. On this level, if you can't run the 100, you can't run the 200 either. They tried to act like she was focusing on the 200, but as a former track runner, it never made sense. A few weeks ago, it was said she caught a cramp in hamstring. For one, why run in that meet and you have a few weeks before olympics. Bottomline, she most like strained her hamstring in that meet, and her and her coaches were playing by ear at the meet, and during warmups, they made the decision to scratch because shes still feeling that injury. With that said, people shouldn't expect her it shelly Ann to be on that 4x100 relay

@annmariebusu9924 I highly doubt it. Think about it. She ran 2wks before olympics in a meet that didmt matter. It was garbage time. A garbage run..meaning it meant nothing. It served as a practice meet for her. Her or shelly hasn't had a good season and haven't run much at all. Whatever she ran in that meet wasn't gonna to do anything special to set her up for the Olympics. When she pulled up, I knew it was an injury. The good thing is, she pulled up at the right time and didn't do a lot of damage. You could tell by the look on her face. The minute I saw the race, I knew she would scratch one or the other or run on olympics and get injured. I say this because I was a sprinter and know how that hamstring works. If it was a strain which it probably was, there was no way for her to be prepared to run and compete with those girls. Shelly Ann, not sure but I guarantee it was injury because I don't see anything stopping that woman from participating in probably her last olympics. I'm an American shelly is probably my favorite 100m women of all time.
Good morning! I was looking forward to see her run. Folks are when we don’t have all the information we should not make judgments. I don’t think she would have gone knowing 100% that she would not be be to run. We are grateful for all that her, Shelly and Elaine among the other greats have done for Jamaica over the years. We have our plans but in the last it is Gods will that will prevail. It wasn’t meant to be.
I don't agree with these atlethes going to competition knowing full well they are injury .When they do this they are just denying someone else the opportunity to compete on the big stage.
Disagree, this is the pinnacle of the sport, not a participation contest. One thing really dont respect about most of my Jamaican ppl is, when our athletes are doing well it's ok everyone is happy, but as soon as something comes up like their injuries you all start criticizing. None of us know what the mental part of this whole ordeal is on Shericka, Shellyann or Elaine. They still need our support whether they are able to run or not. A fi wi dem. Oh yes! Melissa can never beat Shelly. She ran 10.92s, the same time Shelly ran in her heat. She looked relaxed and comfortable but unfortunately last minute warm up issues with changing of rules overnight without informing the athletes affected her during a rush warm which forced her to withdrew. So, sad.....if anything, Shelly surely would made that podium. Ppl still don't know the woman Shelly is at all...what a shame 🙄.

let's be realistic we all knew Shericka wasn't in the best of shape all season, but they thought they would be able to be ready but unfortunately it didn't happen and yes, we are disappointed but its apart of the sport no two ways about that I only wish someone else had gotten the chance to represent in her absence for the experience and exposure but hope she recovers soon and fully.
I have said this numerous times, the national representatives should not be determined by entities in such a haphazard manner. These injuries ought not to be hidden from the public. Our athletes have been stellar over the years but too much is not known by Jamaica, the country that they were representing.

Her management team is full of pure deception. They knew all along that she was injured more than what they were letting on. When Shericka pulled up in the race, the look on her face told the story. However, when she came to the trails, I said to myself ok. I think she is getting there based on the information that her team was putting out there. Shericka body language in the puma sponsorship interview said a lot, looking back on it in my mind. We don't expect Shericka to run injured, so there was no need for Shericka and her team to be saying that she was not injured when they fully knew that was the case this is pure deception. I will not trust them to believe anything they say again. I trust that she will recover and be back to good health soon.

Really was not expecting her to run at all. Her team knew that she was more injured than they pretent. They knew from day one that she was not going to take any part in any event. I believe they turn up at the warmup area to say she got injured there. Pure deception if you ask me, and I don't mean to be negative. All they need is to tell us the truth. We no expect her to run and cause further injury because we want her to heal and come back stronger than before.

Proverbs 15:3 God is not pleased with what is happening at THIS Paris 2024 Olympics, we may not see everything with our physical eyes but Jesus Christ sees and he doesn't like it.. As result, he's withdrewing some of our athletes in solidarity with other people around the world who will not watch this Olympics. Let us continue to pray to Jesus Christ of Nazareth for his blood coverage & protection over Team Jamaica and others to be safe.
