I found this interview of Suheir Hammad from late last year.
From GRITtv.
"The question of Arab and Muslim identity in America has been radically transformed in the last eight years. Can one be both Muslim and a decent family man? Of course, but the message coming from the McCain campaign suggests otherwise. Palestinian-American poet Suheir Hammad says that there is a long tradition of Islamophobia and anti-Muslim bigotry in this country. While Colin Powell's comments on Meet the Press about Muslim soldiers were welcome, they reveal just how skewed the discourse has become. There was, of course, no mention of the tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians killed as a result of the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq. What about those Muslims?
Hammad, born in Jordan to Palestinian refugees moved to Brooklyn at the age of five. She reads from her new book of poems, Breaking Poems, and discusses her role in the film Salt of This Sea."

Everybody in all contries are and have been subjected to terrorism. Don't dramatize it, you are sitting on top of the world. It is an obvious fact that your media and institutions represent Muslims in a derogatory way that reduces them to stereotypes. Think really carefully about why a certain terrorist organization might have targeted you before daring to reflect such sarcastic comments on this page. Sometimes, all that is left for some groups is violence.
