I pole vaulted in High school in 1963, 64 and 65. I is amazing watching your progression! I used to use only a swedish steel pole which did not bend like the poles of today. in 1965 I was fortunate enough to meet John Pennel at the time the best American vaulter and he taught me how to use the fiberglass pole. My senior year of high school I broke six poles. My body shape was of a football half back and weighed 185 lbs. at 6'1". I did vault in college but was 10 lbs heavier and the pole companies did not build poles to support so I stuck to sprints. I am honored and amazed at watching Mr. Duplantis and now all the vaulters women and men. Thanks for you videos. Oh and by the way I started with a bamboo pole when I was 10. Still love watching the pole vault and progression it has made over the years.
Similar story here, Skip.........we had a pit in back yard with sawdust, and later on rice hull.....I started Vaulting in junior high with Bamboo pole, also.......when HS came around we had one f/g pole......was rated for 160 lbs.......I was 135 lbs......coach wouldnt let me use bamboo in HS meets....so i quit........i've seen all the great one's of the 60's.....Pennel, Uelses, Bragg,Tork........I still am po'd at my coach for not letting me use the bamboo, lol.......I jumped 12'3" with a Bamboo Pole chopped down in Matilda Gray's front yard and that was in 1965..
@@xbigshot1 I was lucky to vault with John Pennel at the Knights of Columbus meet in Cleveland in 1966. I think I was at 12'6" and he easily over 16 ft. Love Watching our own Cleveland lady Ms. Nageotte win the GOLD at Olympic Games this past year.
@@MrJackWorse Thanks to remind me this, it feels so prophetic and certain of time.We are witness of the flying man.... but it looks that he would reach 6,33 at the end of the tunnel. He's touching the eyelash of the Gods.
Don’t call it backyard homeoffice 🤣 Nice video! And thanks for the look and information about this sport and workouts! I want to see more videos like this
My older brother did pole vaulting and he went to Reno to get coached by a Coach Randy, and he did a Pole Vaulting Summit and Mondo was there, crazy! It was before he broke the record
Hi Mondo, Great home set up. You have inspired us! We are going to put up a rope climb. How did you make the hanging sit up apparatus that you showed at 2min30secs?
Hey I’m doing pole vault at my school and my coach said I was pretty good and i made a pit for pole vault but I can only use a bendy pvc pole for form but your a big inspiration for me
I used to jump in my back yard at 8 years old, with a bamboo pole, landing in the grass, runnig about 30 feet, with no gym training, no shoes (bare foot) and no coach ! I jumped the roof of my house 10 feet. ;) In the university I jumped 11 feet with just one step. ;)
Congrats on your WR's. I am watching every meet and am looking forward to higher efforts in the future. Was wondering why I didn't see your dad at any of the WR setting events? Has there been a coaching change that has happened? Thanks!
People. This is a RED BULL channel. Why do you trying to communicate with Armand Duplantis here?! Red Bull made the video. Yes, it was a great view but this is a part of their sponsorship. Do you really think Armand is on this channel reading your postings?! Why?! If you want to tell everybody else something, fine but please. Try to read between the line and stop posting comments to Armand. It only makes him look rude (not responding.) He is not rude you know. He is not here, that's all. Do you trying to communicate with him through newspaper articles and other non-Armand Duplantis channels as well?! No, probably not, right?! With that said. This was a great video Red Bull and people, my criticism aside; It was some interesting posting too.👍😊
Wait a minute. I'm confused? Is this the Duplantis guy that represented Sweden? Why is he in the Louisiana and why does he speak better english than most americans?😅
I now Red Bull not going to see this but I want to be a f1 and I don’t have the money to buy a go kart and I try to build one but I cannot, it’s too expensive, I wish you can help me
It's three poles, a special hole and sand... So no? Not at all? Not even close? What an absolutely ridiculous question? Building a treehouse is 10x harder and every dad is expected to do that at least once........
