Breaking and Sneakers is a look into the shoes that help us present our dance. Along with my favorite 5 breaking shoes right now. Enjoy and thanks for watching!
I rep a whole other era, and segment. Early/mid 80's, Bronx. All we rocked were Pro-Keds, Puma Basket, Pony, Converse, Nike Cortez, and/or Adidas Superstar. You can see iconic pics, of legendary NYC B-Boys, like Frosty Freeze, rocking Super Pro-Keds Suede Hi. Or Crazy Legs, rocking Adidas Topten. A style he copped in France, that weren't available in the U.S., at the time. Lenny Len, rocking Nike Cortez. Break Machine, rocked Cortez, in their music videos. Mr. Wave rocked Hi-Top Puma Basket. And you can even catch the RSC, rocking Converse Weapon, in their videos, and on multiple stock photos. Knowing how to put those outfits together, were key. The fat laces. The windbreaker outfits, or the track suits (for easier spins). Olde English iron on lettering, on your sweats, and cap (crew affiliation). Best times of my life!
Nice kicks. Also the Cortez was my shit and still have the pure whites in the box for special occasions. The Puma suede's I rocked multiple colors in the 80's and had to pay for them by saving quarters when I was a kid...grey with blue strip. Honorable mention the first soft Reeboks and the classic shell toes.
The R698s... 👌🏽 had a pair I destroyed with how often I wore them. You reminded me of ‘em; perhaps I should cop another pair. The suedes!! I remember seeing that BCOne livestream, had a feeling you’d finally win that year 🙌🏽
The most beautiful breaking shoe to me is the Huarache Light (the one that doesn’t look like Huarache at all). Amazing footwork grip and extremely light. Wear them in summer with shorts. They look sharp.
I used to have a pain in the balls of my feet from a tough job in a warehouse. One time it was so bad, I couldn't put weight on my foot anymore. It took a long time until the pain went away completely after I had quit that job. That's why I use running shoes with a thick sole, so it doesn't hurt that much when I accidentally smash the balls of my feet on the floor during training. In everyday life, I mostly wear sketchers with a soft inner sole. My favourite colour varies but somehow I always end up with pink sneakers. I have to actively look for shoes in a different colour, else I won't find any. 👟 😁 Sometimes, I smash my wrists on the floor. I don't have a solution for that though... 🙊
Mad love for that Nike Vomero 5, i intend to wear the A cold wall x vomero 5 but i think the block in the shoes back will create disturbances when I"m dancing. Any suggestion for that?
Yo Roxrite dope shoe choices and for me I rock and break in Puma suede, Old skool Vans, my personal favorite chuck taylor high top converse. Honestly I love dancin and breakin in converse cause when I break I can do slides and glides easier and its like a clear, clean raw sneaker for anything or any street culture. One question do u think shoes change and give you advantages of your breakin or is it how u do it and rock it
i am a bit late haha my top 5 1. Nike Cortez 2. Adidas Samba / Spezial 3. Champion Lexington 4. Chucks from Muji or H&M 5. Puma Icra? (they made them with new soles which i dont like but the old ones were rly good)
Yo appreciate your opinion I like it specially the Puma suede with the fat leases. Let me ask you a question what do you recommend for shoes for breaking that don’t grip too much in the front part of your foot so like spin around and stuff like that?
Depends on your style, i prefer shoes with grip. But if you got spins on your feet and slides then use the shoe you think is best for those types of moves.
hey roxrite, i have a question for shoe sizes. Do you buy your sneakers so that you have a bit of space at the end of your toes or do you buy them as small as possible so they dont look as bulky and used when you train in them? i dont really like it when the sneaker looks used and the toe of the shoe starts to lift up, so sometimes i buy them as small as possible and sometimes at just the right size.
Ive noticed that when i get sneakers that are a little bit big, they make my breaking slower and sloppier since my feet feels heavier and they take more space, I think it’s better to go with sleek shoes that are as small as possible ;)
Sorry for asking this silly question. But what in your opinion is the most sturdy shoes to train/drill with? Any tips on maintaining the condition of the shoes as well?
Right now i would say the nike p-6000 soles stay in tact, and last long I have 4 pairs of them now lol Just keep clean and make sure you loosen them when you take them off
@@RoxRiteofficial That is awesome! I just started my first season of track this year. A goal of mine is to qualify for the Boston Marathon and track is going to help me pick up the pace. Great videos, Rox and thank you for sharing. Take care! 😎🙏🏽
