i did all this stuff the best thing to do is get a dremel buffing wheel and compound put some on the spot that is haveing the problem buff it real good it makes it go away

I broke the d string on my j style and the high e string on my LP style so yup.. I'll try this

I'm breaking the 4th string on my Les Paul. I think it's my heavy right hand. I changed picks from very heavy to pretty light and still broke it. I'm just afraid of going too far or worse not enough and breaking it right away again. It's hard seeing in there. I'll try to take your advice and try to feel any snags.

Eric, im having the same issue on my eric Johnson strat. I tried this though and it still breaks strings. Could a burr be down inside the bridge?

This is what I don’t like about new Strats and Mexican Strats. This smaller saddles. They keep the good wider ones for custom shop. Bastards ! The vintage correct 11.2mm. You have the 10.8mm width.

Most hardware stores don't even sell files anymore. I tried this with my Tele. It eats 1st strings so much that I won't play it anymore.
