Glad to see you’re back and doing well! I read the Book of Mormon the 1st time when I was 11 and was studying Native Americans in Social Studies and it hit me that this must be some of the same people! I shared with my teacher and he told me Brigham You g made the whole thing up, then others pointed out the introduction to me. But Book of Mormon Geography has been a passion of mine for many years, I first heard about you while I served a mission in Logan/Smithfield, UT and since then have listened to many of you presentations. Keep up the great work, I hear Wayne May has a big evidence coming soon so I am on the edge of my seat!

In the prophet, Joseph Smith's own testimony in the introductory pages of the Book of Mormon, he testifies of Moroni's first visit to him; "He said there was a book deposited, written upon gold plates, giving an account of the former inhabitants of this continent, and the source from whence they sprang." Moroni told Joseph Smith that the record found on the gold plates is about the earlier inhabitants of THIS continent. The continent where Joseph and Moroni were at, at that moment during that first meeting of the two was the North Americancontinent. Not South America, not Africa, Europe, Asia or Antarctica, but THIS continent. I am pretty confident that both Joseph and Moroni understood that the continent that they were located on at that moment was the North American continent. I don't know how more plain a prophet and an angel can be. If you cant take their word for it, why bother even worrying about it one way or the other.
Excellent digdudemoose, you are correct, Zarahemla and Bountiful were on the North American continent. The Book of Mormon also indicates that Zarahemla was in the south region of this Continent (Mormon 1:6) and that thousands of Nephites left from the south land of Zarahemla/Bountiful, many of them building ships to sail north across a sea (not a river) to a choice north country (incidentally where the New Jerusalem would be built) (Alma 63 & Hel 3). We also learn from these verses that after leaving the land of Zarahemla on a ship and migrating to the north country, that the Nephites spread out and covered the entire continent wherever it was habitable to live. It's all in the book. So we know there is a sea that borders much of the land of Zarahemla & Bountiful (Alma 22:32). We also know that the city of Zarahemla was near the west bank of the River Sidon, which emptied into the sea, the same sea that thousand of Nephites sailed north across when they left the shores of Zarahmela/Bountiful. Wherever the land of Zarahemla is, there is a sea on it's north shore that many thousands of Nephites sailed north across. It's important for all to know and understand that Mexico, Guatemala, and the other small countries of the Central America region are all part of the North American continent. Although Joseph, nor any other president of the Church has given a specific location of the Book of Mormon city of Zarahemla, the one burnt at the Saviors crucifixion, Joseph did narrow it down to the Central American region on this continent. Joseph was the editor and publisher of The Times and Season, the church's newspaper from March 1842 to November 1842. He added his signature block, in big bold font, to the last page of every edition he was editor of, and he claimed responsibility for all editions containing this signature block. In October 1842 Joseph with his two assistant editors, Apostles John Taylor and Wilford Woodruff, unitedly declared and published an "important fact" that Zarahemla was within the borders of Guatemala. That's three powerful testimonies of the declaration; none of which would ever retract or refute it. Go to the Church's website and search for 'Zarahemla Times and seasons October 1, 1842' and read it for yourself. It's also important to know that the church, nor any subsequent president, has ever retracted or refuted it. Since the boundaries of Guatemala has shrunk since Joseph's day, it's interesting to review a map of Guatemala that Joseph would have had access to on the date of publication. Google - 1825 historic map of Guatemala; notice the boundaries extended north as far as to included the Chiapas & Palengue areas of current day Mexico. A very interesting area indeed, as there is a sea on the north shore of the area. Me thinks, Joseph knew a thing or two. Yes, according to the Book of Mormon narrative and Joseph's publications, there can and will be evidences of Nephites in both the southern regions and northern regions of this continent; there will be plains of Nephites in the north region, as well as Nephite cities such as Zarahemla and Bountiful in the south region; both can be and are true at the same time. The BOM and Joseph are in harmony on this, they both describe as much. Further, the church's current statement regarding Book of Mormon Geography, acknowledges Joseph as the editor of the T&S for the 1842 edition regarding BOM geography, and further the statement acknowledges Joseph's beliefs that there were BOM evidences in both Central and North America. Search the Church's website for Book of Mormon Geography. Keep in mind, Central America was a modern term at the time, used to distinguish the group of countries of southern region of the north American continent; its all apart of this continent. It also states the Church does not take a position on the specific geographic locations of Book of Mormon events; if that's the case, then D&C 125 is not a revelation on the specific location of the Book of Mormon Zarahemla; to date, there is no prophetic revelation naming the specific location of the BOM city of Zarahemla; so a word of caution, beware of clever tongues claiming there is. Can Nephite evidence be found in Central and North America; according to the BOM and Joseph, absolutely! It's also important to realize and understand, that if and when evidences are found in one region or the other, it does not mean Nephites didn't live in the other region; both are still true according to the BOM and Joseph, regardless of what's found or not found.
I’m having issues with spiritual and even political issues. So on spiritual matters I pray for a sign, on what to do and where to go. I want to join a church, get Baptised, but I don’t get any help from God. Even reaching out to churches they don’t seem to want to help I get little responses. There are some people who are willing to help but them seem to grow tired of my questions and stop replying. Even Christian RU-vid channels, or website don’t seem to want to help. And the only time I have had spiritual feelings is in a LDS church. And many have said they Aren’t good, but the community they have is amazing. Then on politics I sit more in the middle but felt the right side was more to God. But I seem many right wing people and points taken down by left wing people. Even getting on to science there is a lot religion can’t answer, or it make me struggle to accept religion. Plus just the fact all these religions and denominations exist I feel contradict one another and I’m just left confused. Why has God put me in this position, not answering me? Or his churches? Late twenties no partner, marriage. Overweight by about 20-25lbs. No friends. Ignored by people. I just have nothing in life, I thought I would be further in life by now. I do also think I would have been baptised in LDS by now if it wasn’t for my parents at the time being awkward and just childish about it. And I donno how to even deal with them about it nowadays. Even my sister was making fun of me for it. So if anyone can help me or guide me in what to, how to pray, what to ask, where to go, help with my family. And why do think God has made himself so hard to find? And even churches, Christians, Christian websites and such, friends you name seem to not want to talk with me, is there a reason? Seriously, any help would be very much appreciated!
Kyle, I think you are in a great position to find answers. There are two things that always come back to me when I am seeking answers from God. First, what my expectations for an answer from Him, versus what does the scriptures say about answers? We often don’t recognize God’s hand in our lives because we set ourselves up for a false expectation. 1st Kings says that, “a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” The second thing that I consider, is what am willing to give up to receive an answer? The Lord loves effort. He wants to be apart of our lives, but He is willing to wait until we are ready. At the end of the Book of Mormon, it tells us to “ask with a sincere heart, and real intent”. The times that the Lord has manifest Himself to me best, are usually when I recognize that I need to change. It sounds like you are in a position to change, and have felt some connection to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Continue to ask questions, and look for how the Lord answers.

With well over ONE MILLION mound sites in America's Heartland (according to the Illustrated Encyclopedia of Native American Mounds and Earthworks), it is hard to know which have been studied and which have not. If we get a chance to look it up it may tell us more about what has been found.

No lying is necessary. We believe in God and ongoing revelation to His prophets, like Moses and Abraham. Zarahemla is across the Mississippi River from Nauvoo, IL as given by revelation in D&C 125. Bountiful is near the present-day city of Newark, OH with it's monumental earthworks depicting the restored gospel's Plan of Salvation built by the Hopewell civilization which we think are the ancient Nephites.

Only about 700 years to tower of Babel days. Also, Jaredites were the descendants of Ham. Any combination or loaning of word usage between the spoken Arabic and Afro-Asiatic dialects with Adam's original tongue could very well account for the mystery at hand. That combined with the fact hybrid crossbreeding for both mules and "beefalo" produce superior beasts of burden and would be cherished as specially useful by the Jaredites and why we don't have a clue as to what bones or animal to compare to a curelom and a Cumom because they would not generally produce offspring. All we need for some God given common sensed evidence for the Holy Ghost to confirm to is... the probability of a handful of straggler elephants still roaming in N America in Jared's days and the knowhow of Him to cross breed some mules and Hybrid super oxen with bison with the horses, donkeys and oxen that were brought on the barges. When you seek answers from the Book of Mormon instead of the Bible, God can't help you because you have turned your back on Him. Therefore this leaves the door open for Satan (II Corinthians 11:14-15) to step into your life with a false christ or prophet showing you signs and wonders to lead you away from the real Jesus of the Bible who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. God Himself warns us about this in: MATTHEW 24:23-24 "Then if anyone says to you, Look, here is the Christ! or There! do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect..." Mormons teach and believe that their jesus is the brother of Satan, which contradicts what God says in His Bible that Jesus is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. So Mormons, which Jesus do you believe in? A. Your jesus of the Book of Mormon, who is the brother of Satan. OR B. The Jesus of the Bible, who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity.
@Wyocutlass71 The REAL question you should be asking yourself is this. "Which Jesus do you believe in?" Because whether you go to heaven or hell depends on it.
We believe in the Jesus that was born of a virgin in Bethlehem, taught His gospel and established His church near Jerusalem and atoned for all our sins on Golgotha. Then rose from the tomb and broke the bands of death for all mankind. He is the only begotten Son of God the Father. That's the Jesus we believe in and cherish. Is that the same Jesus you believe in?
