as a 33 year old, and currently in a relationship of 11 years -- i understand exactly where Jacob is coming from in terms of the concept of 'moving on'' my husband is terminal and it's one of my biggest fears, entering that moment of trying to move on. I don't think i'd be able to have those emotions to spend on anyone for a long, long while and it wouldn't be a good idea ( or would it be fair to that new person ) to invest in someone while your heart is still attached to someone from your past. It's a complicated and critical concept of the human experience and it's all a case by case basis. We all have lessons to learn from each person we connect with. Love is an interesting thing, and you have to pay close attention to the fundamentals each relationship you enter, provide in order to grow as a person.

This is really weird, but a girl I dated a long time ago didn't want to be with me anymore, but instead of breaking up with me, she tried REALLY hard to make me hate her so that I would break up with her. It took her a long time, but she eventually succeeded, and I wanted absolutely nothing to do with her. However, she regretted it afterward and kept trying to get back together with me for the next 2 years. She literally called me at least 40 times a day, and I kept ignoring her. Then, she eventually found out how to hide her number from my caller ID. Every time I saw an unknown number, I wouldn't answer it. I had to put up with this for a full 2 years. Then she started randomly coming over to my house. She'd just walk right in uninvited. That's when I finally decided to move 5 states away. I wasn't entirely without sympathy for her. I understood how she felt. She knew she screwed up, and she really wanted another chance, and I do believe that she would've tried to change, but I'm not gonna lie, I was scared to death of her, and I'm glad I don't have to live in fear anymore.
