@@airdrifter9578 hard to get excited for Blueger and Myers… Big Z was the very definition of a Fan Favourite, especially for fans of old school physical hockey. There’s no FA left that effectively replaces what he brought to the table. Opposing forwards literally feared crossing the blue line when he was on the ice… this is a massive L for Canucks fans 🤦♂️
Why? The Canucks were much better at the beginning of the season without him. Not worth getting into a huge long term contract. Those have burned us before.
The only problem is we give all these draft choices to get these UFA, knowing resigning them will cost a lot, then signing Pettersson to an 11.3 million contract. We get nothing back for Lindholm and Zadorov. No draft choices, no bargaining power, watching other teams pick 1st and 2nd round then signing our free agent.
Don't worry there is more to come from this management gives away draft picks like drunken sailors. I predict they will trade their 2025 1st round pick by next trade deadline.
@@roundnround365 Knowing your worth is important. He played well, deserves a bag. Also, he’s not getting younger, he’s trying to create generational wealth for his family and you can’t hate on him for that.
People seem to forget how good the Canucks were at the start of the season. Zadorov wasn't playing here then. I'm not saying the 2 things are connected but it will be interesting to see how much he signs for wherever he ends up.
Too bad this really sucks losing the big Z complete package not many of them around. I don’t know what he was asking for but I believe management knows what they’re doing. You will be missed.
Why would you want Guentzel for a right winger? Hoggy is not good enough to play on the second line. You need Guentzel on the left (his regular position)and another player for the right side. The fourth line (3b) could be Hollander, Aman, and Podkolzin. Petterssen needs more than Hoggy plus a new right winger. To win in the playoffs, the second line needs to dynamite also.
I have a feeling something went down when Zadorov's agent helped facilitate the Mikheyev trade and not agreeing to what they would assume the asking price of big Z which sent him straight to July 1st. Hopefully no bridges have been burned.
If this team wants to progress they need either an improvement over Juulsen or a much-improved Juulsen. His speed and D-zone exits are issues. Tanev also on the radar.
