Breakthrough discovery to treat prosthetic joint infections 

For the 7 million Americans living with artificial knees and hips, one of the most serious health threats is an infection near the implant. New research at UT Southwestern has found that treating the infection through external use of a magnetic field at the site of the implant could one day replace multiple surgeries and weeks of IV antibiotics.
