I hate it when people confuse a folding drive for a warp drive. It "drives" me crazy. Ships in Star Trek had travel times because they use WARP DRIVE not a folding drive. Folding drives connect two points in space together and then you simply step through (A wormhole if you will). There is no travel time except the small distance to step through. Warp drive warps spacetime AROUND an object (Ship in this case) leaving a bubble of stationary spacetime inside and then compresses spacetime in front of the bubble and expands it behind it, moving the bubble through space. Since there theoretically is no speed limit on how fast you can wrap spacetime the speeds achieved could be limitless. HOWEVER, there is still travel time because you are still having to go from point A to point B through space. This is why in some episodes of Star Trek it could take them weeks or even months to reach some destinations. Take Voyager for example. If they had a folding drive, they could have just been instantly back home. Warp drive is NOT a folding drive and does NOT fold space, it warps it around an object hence the 'Warp' in the name.
