I've always liked a bit of beam fishing, anyone can catch one accidentally but specifically targeting them for size or numbers is a very different challenge. as you said using appropriate kit helps keep it fun.
Great video . I must admit im not a fan of bream unless targeting them or feeder fishing . One method i enjoy is using a 1-6g or 1-10g Bfs baitcaster set ups . I use them with Kamasan black cap 10 and 15g maggot feeders and drennan small cage feeders in 10g and 15g . 2lb fluorcarbon straight through or 4lb line with 2lb hook link and size 22 to 16 hook . A couple of strong rubber float stops and you on a good to go . Ideal on canals and deep venues (no tangles too ) . The old boys looked on in shock as i pulled out fish after fish next to them at their local match at canary wharf . They was kind enough to let me fish . I even caught a large slob trout . The lower lea has some huge bream in it . My biggest was 17.2lb followed by a 14.6lb and a 13.9lb in the same session . I can be sure of a double at least 1 in 3 trips when the fish are biting (biggest problem on the lower lea ) . Wouldnt use the BFS set ups though as its running water and you need at least 30g to 90g feeders . Great vid . Bream need love too .
Yeah I've got a place for bream in my fishing.. Got about 5 river bream during the winter..around 4 to 5 lb mark....they were a very silver colour really striking in the sunlight....one really pulled back....A double figure bream is a worthy pursuit....
Just recently I've caught quite a few at my local venue. And it's a fairly new lake but the bream in it have thrived. I've had a change of mind about catching them. I've really enjoyed targeting them alot more.
bream are quality, and they are quality bream. as you say balanced tackle is the way, you would have trouble landing them on a flowing river, they fight much better!
I can imagine that they’re proportions make them very hard to move through flowing water! Something for me to have a go at in the future. Maybe on the Thames. 👍👍
Hi Nick. I’m 69 and still trying for a big bream my best over 65 years of fishing is 7-12. Is the lake you were fishing a club lake or a lake where I could get a day ticket. I live in Hampshire but don’t know if any day ticket lakes local that hold bream of this size, Love to see another vid if you catching that double. Regards john 😃😃👍👍
Unfortunately it’s a club ticket. The biggest fish in the video (at the start) was from Walthamstow but that a long drive for you. I’m not that clued up on bream waters, but I bet there’s some decent fish around the Yateley / Farnham area somewhere. Good luck.
Love the video Nick love my bream fishing, i'm from the east cost of Suffolk and there is only a couple of big waters that have big bream in, but are very hard to find, one lake is 100 acres and the other is half as big again, would love to catch a 10lb + er thank you 👍
I’m not a huge expert when it comes to big bream waters but really enjoyed targeting them. I might need to start looking for more venues. Thanks for the kind comments. Always appreciated 🙏👍👍👍
I enjoyed that! One question, once the feeders hit the bottom do you twitch the rig back a bit to release the feed or leave it where it landed please? Cheers mate!
Twitching the rig back is done when the feeder is further up the line than the hook bait normally, as he is using a helicopter rig twitching the rig back would move the hook bait further from the ground bait rather than getting it closer
Location … I managed to find the shoal and the bream were bang on it! There’s other species in this venue but once the bream are over you nothing else gets a look in. Probably something that will change from venue to venue.
i loved it m8 being a club/ match angler just joined farnham a s for tench and bream fishing so i watch some of your vids, i try red krill on a trip can see you love it, thx for the vid good stuff.
1 of my club lakes (8a) has bream to 13-14lb. I always plan to have a go for them, but tench fishing another lake (18a) on the book always seems to win.
Love em, Big Small whatever, really enjoy your video's,have you tried good old bread and cheese mixed into a paste?? Good old worms from the compost heap?? Two red maggots??
Loved it loved it what a great video nick , imagine catching that lot on the float as well nobody could disregard the bream then could they,I've always loved catching them but never been lucky enough to get this many fantastic and what a lovely place , have you any plans to visit reading and district waters apparently they have huge bream and tench 👍
I love catching bream however on carp rods at 2am it's just not the one! Catching with the right tackle (which can be said for most species) is great fun and they are very impressive at 8Ib plus 👍
Hiya Nick I enjoyed that. Can you tell me were they 3 metre wraps or 4 metre wraps? Also was there a reason why you didn't fish at a further distance? Was it because of the time of year? Cheers nick👍
Really enjoyed this. Always had a soft spot for so-called „nuisance“ species like bream and chub. Looking forward to the next one (Walthamstow bream: yes please!!)
Great video. Only a dedicated carp angler would not want to catch bream of that size ! As you said if you use the right gear and methods bream can put up a good scrap. I look forward to you maybe catching that double !
loved the vid,i had session of a lifetime on my new syndicate easter weekend, nine double figure bream with the biggest three going 12lb,13lb and a 14lb 6oz new pb.
WOW!!! Incredible mate. I think my timing was bad here tbh. Pretty sure they’d spawned, A couple of weeks earlier some might have been doubles. But wow, what an incredible session you’ve had there! 🙌👌
I was exactly the same mate but these sessions have made me want to try for them a bit more often. Imagine a big mid double. Thanks as always for watching 👍🙏
So, 10 spombs straight away. Then every 30mins I was recasting both rods (that were fished on the same spot) and 2 or 3 more spombs on the spot. It took nearly 2hrs for them to turn up. Then it was 3 spombs after each fish. Hope that helps! Thanks for the kind comment 🙏👍👍
Bream, like all fish, are magnificent creatures. You decide to fish, and target your species - quite happy catching bags of Bream, Tench, small carp - even down to targetting Gudgeon on a whip! Fishing - got to love it..!!
@@Lifeonthebank Nick - thank you. I used to match fish a lot so learned how to target particular species with particular methods - favourites being breadpunch, chopped worm, hemp and squatt. After my eldest son took up the other family sport of Boxing, I left it alone as I got back into that (not fighting though - too old!). When he stopped, I decided that I didn't want to carry all that with me anymore and decided to concentrate on one avenue of the sport - fishing for Pike and Perch (mainly lures, but also deadbaits). Mainly fish the Upper Lea and have had a few successes, though that big 'sergeant' still eludes me. Your series on 'Perch Masters' has given me quite a bit of food for thought and ideas - great series - many thanks.
@@Boxersboy-um1fd thanks for sharing this. I completely understand the minimum gear thing! It’s so nice to go out with a rod and a small bag. Already looking forward to filming more Perch Masters. Seems like a format that worked last winter so expect more! 👍👍
Cheers mate … appreciate that. Been involved in a few projects. Keep an eye on Korum and Sonubaits channels for those. Hopefully there won’t be such a gab before the next one. Lots of plans 😉😉👍
My mate kev Lunn will absolutely love this video he’s bream mad has a massive picture book with all his best bream catches in it can’t wait till he sees this he’s currently fishing worsbrough reservoir on a 72 hour winter bream session so I bet he will love this
Guy, your videos are amazing, love watching them!!!!! And I don’t care you are promoting sonubaits, I also use some of your products, they are top! But the RU-vid advertisings drives me crazy….. that’s all
Phew! Well that’s kind of a relief 😂 I’ll take it onboard and maybe take a look at how frequently they’re appearing across some of the videos. Of course, ads are a way to claw back a bit of £££, but I do take your point 👍👍👍
