Selena, You are 100% normal, my dear. You are allowed to cry and be angry, and frustrated and anything else that you feel. You are a joy and an inspiration to so many people. You will never meet the majority of us in person, but we are standing strong right beside you, and cheering you on. If the load seems to heavy sometimes, please lean on us. Prayers for a complete healing, and that cancer can suck it. Much love, Carolyn

Please start meditating Selena. It is a great way to see yourself well in your minds eye. Remember to be mindful of the words you choose to say to yourself and others when speaking of your recovery. Believe that you're getting better everyday, no matter what, even if it is a challenge. Selena-you-can-do-it! Plant seeds of wellness into your subconscious mind. An example would be to light a candle (symbolizing your good health) and let it burn throughout the day, everyday or something of your choosing (make it routine) to speak symbolically to your subconscious mind that you are being healed minute by minute. Believe it in your soul, and you can have it. It is through the subconscious mind that you will heal. Sending good thoughts to you Selena and your sweet husband. I believe in you 100% XO :-)

I had my single mastectomy on February 13/24. They gave me a pain blocker pre surgery. They kept me in only a day. And also had a really hard time waking up. Should have left about five hours prior. Finally got on our way home. I honestly didn’t have pain until 4 days later. I opted not to have reconstructive surgery. Only because I heard too many horror stories. My staples stayed in for 2.5 weeks. I just finished my 4th treatment of chemotherapy. Still 4 to go. Wish you all the best on your reconstructive surgery. My friend had it done almost a year ago and she is now ok. 🙏 ❤

I’m meeting with a surgeon today at 2 in Baton Rouge about my double mastectomy. I’m absolutely TERRIFIED. I still don’t know what stage mine is, I can’t even hardly say the word cancer. The only thing I know right now is mine is ductal and I haven’t had the pet scans or mri to know yet if it’s spread. I’m sitting here in tears not knowing what my future holds or even IF I will have.a future. This is so shitty to have to go through. I feel like a little child, so scared. I’m not going to have reconstruction. I’m 54 and I’m just over it! Boobs are overrated to me right now! I’ll be watching all of your videos on your journey. I hate that you had to go through this. I hate that I’m having to go through this. I wish so badly a cure for this could be found so no woman ever has to go through this. Please pray for me I’m so scared.

I’m 51 and my double mastectomy is booked for this Friday! Friday the 13th, and I like you Milli, I have chosen not to do reconstruction. I’m terrified here too! Mine was diagnosed invasive mammary carcinoma, stage 1 but I guess that can change once they open me up. Omg making me nauseated just thinking about this all. So thankful for this video with her saying it like it is! Thank god for RU-vid! It helps me somewhat knowing what’s going to happen from other ladies in the same boat as me. How are you doing Milli? I so hope you’re doing well!

@@vanessablack6187 Hi Vanessa. I’m actually doing really well. It’s been two months since I had my surgery. My recovery went really well. I’m still dealing with the mental part. I feel like that will just be my new normal. My Onco type # was 22 so I got really lucky and didn’t have to do any chemo. You’re going to make it through this and there is support out there for us! I’ll be thinking of you and sending prayers and positive thoughts your way! Take care of yourself!

You gave a good description of the experience. I just had my bilateral mastectomy two weeks ago. My right breast only showed some kind of scar on biopsy, but I opted to have both removed. When they got in, it was cancer. This stuff is tricky. Read alot, go with your gut and stay strong. Love from another woman who knows.

Yiur feed just popped up for me. Thank you for sharing. I am waiting for surgery date for a double mastectomy and tissue expanders... then chemo and reconstruction after. It's exhausting pretending you're fine. I think I am fine until someone asks how I'm doing or I've have to talk about what's happening to me. I hope your treatment is over. Congrats on the magazine feature! I'm sending love and healing energy to you, beautiful lady.

You are doing amazing for 10 days post op. I was down and out for about 2 weeks. Couldn't even pull my own panties up and down lol. I felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest and I couldn't breathe. I'm 10 years out and still numb. I have pain sometimes, but (and this won't make sense) I can't exactly tell where the pain is located. I think the implant has something to do with that. I couldn't raise my arms until I hit about week 3. Took forever it seemed to be able dress myself. I'm so glad you have your husband there to take care of you. I did it all alone. I'm so very happy that you are doing so well. I think I could have filled a rain barrel with all the tears I shed. You are in my continued prayers. God Bless you and your husband as you make this journey.

The whole thing hasn’t been that traumatic. I don’t know why. I stopped taking the pain meds after 3 days. I don’t have a high pain threshhold. It’s just like I accepted it as part of getting better.

My daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and has also been through all the pain and discomfort that you have mentioned, the breathlessness, fatigue and anxiety. After just over 15 months she's slowly starting to get her energy back and is feeling a lot more positive, there's still a few operations necessary but she's a lot better now. I got breast cancer when I was 42. I discovered the lump when I was 41 and my doctor blew me off b/c I'd had a normal mammogram. He said come back in a year. I trusted him. A year later he was going to do nothing, but I pressed him, so he ordered a biopsy. It was malignant. Infiltrating ductal carcinoma. I had no family history so it was a total shock. I had a double mastectomy. That was 26 years ago. Stay positive and remember this: nothing has changed. You destiny is set in eternity. What will be will be. Accepting this helps with the fear that will 'visit'. I say visit b/c it's an unwelcome guest that you don't want to stay long. When it comes knocking, visit with it a bit, then tell it, see ya later. It will return, but the day will come when it won't visit anymore. "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine". And try to watch or read funny things, that make you laugh out loud. I also did visualization. I saw my cancer as innocuous flotsam and jetsam in my body. And a pack of ravening wolves ran through every part of my body, devouring the cancer. I did this 2-3 times a day. And then one day the wolves found nothing. And I stopped the visualization. All the best to you. I know how scary it is.

Anyway thank you for sharing this journey, I had no idea you had breast cancer and seeing you so happy and healthy now gives me hope 💛💛💛

Double mastectomy/no reconstruction at all, about two weeks ago. No clue I was losing both breasts or that I was having the surgery even. I woke up with no breasts, two drains coming from under my arms and raw pain. I am not happy with how I look, but I’m 68, had large breasts and I guess there can be some corrective surgery done to smooth out surgical incisions. This was nothing that could’ve prepared me for how ugly the incisions are. I’ve had major surgical procedures before on belly when I was 30 for a kidney stone. Much more painful than mastectomies, but yes, the breast areas are numb and just under my arms almost to elbows. I opted to go flat, but I thought flat and smooth, my like what I’m left with. I’m feeling a little butchered up and ready for stitches to go. Sure am looking fwd to getting drains removed. Will need chemo eventually. Dreading it more than surgery. I am praying for you. Please pray for me. My name is Cathy Lee and I’m 68 yrs old, scared, looking for comparisons to what I’m doing/having. I’m having awful nightmares are pain narcotics so only taking Tylenol extra strength, which may or may not work. My friends are a great comfort to me. My husband is caring for me. He’s here. That’s about it. He’s very angry for being down. No home nursing care. I have to go to hospital and feel unsafe around sicknesses, Covid, etc. way too much to worry about, which slows my healing, I’m sure. Need that positive energy and assurance around me. Your videos are a huge help to me. I realize these are old videos, but there’s very little out there for us and I’m finding no photos of stages of healing anywhere. My incisions are lumpy, still stitched up and healing. Every move pulls something. I’m not vain enough to want to keep breasts. I’m looking forward to wearing clothing without bras, bandages, foam forms. Everything has darts, but I’ll keep searching for something that is comfortable and Feminine that makes me feel good about my going flat decision. Still trying to figure out why my surgeon didn’t believe me when I said I was going flat. He left me lumpy and rather unfinished-looking. I wanted to look like I did at 14! I liked being flat and oh so comfortable in my clothing! Guess that’s not an option where I live. Bless you as you walk through your story/your life. You’ve been a great inspiration and comfort to me! I guess it’s normal to have all these emotions, right? Ok to cry, to mourn, to fear, to dread, to wonder what’s next. Love to you!!! Thank you for being brave enough to video and show us your strength and/or weakness. You’re a real inspiration! So brave!!!

Hi Cathy, I’m so sorry you are going through this. It’s an incredibly tough road both physic and mentally. My chest looked like Frankenstein after the initial surgery. My scar lines looks crooked and lumpy , and what was left of boobs looked misshapen and wrinkly. Trust me, things get much better. It takes months , but your skin will adjust and heal. My scar lines are like hairline thin now and have settled. Feel free to email me on my website if you need to talk or have more questions. I’m here for you ❤️ Selena

Selena, this is Karen from New York State, who sent you a black fringe shawl with embroidery on it a long time ago. You have been in my thoughts and prayers especially lately every day. I almost jumped up and down when I saw you had uploaded a video. But I didn't actually because I'm such a klutz and probably would've slipped and fallen and would have had to tell my doc why I was there with a swollen ankle or other injury. You can laugh; that's ok, but my doc has heard all kinds of crazy stories from me - cat bites from my volunteer work at the shelter (not the kittie's fault - she was sick and I didn't know and was trying to play and she just needed to rest), wearing sandals in December and tripping (it was a warm December day; my toes love to be free!), and other crazy klutzy shenanigans. I hope you're smiling now! Anyway, all of us are your fairy godmothers and we are all waving our magic wands to bring you healing, peace, happiness (yes! happiness will return!!!!) and comfort. Snuggly blankie and warm cocoa kind of comfort. Loving hugs kind of comfort. The comfort of knowing that all will be well and you just need to keep your eyes on the prize. That kind of comfort. So I'm here thinking of you, sending you prayers and pink sparkly healing energy. I'm now going to PetSmart to do volunteer work - we have a momma Manx cat and her kittens to adopt out and I'm gonna get them the best furever home ever in your honor. So kiss your hubby, scratch your cute puppy in her favorite spot but mostly be kind and gentle with yourself as you await wonderful things. PS I can't wait to grab that magazine! Does that make me an official Selena stalker? ;) Blessings to you and yours, sweet girl. XO

I can understand what you’re going through beautiful lady. I’m 61yrs and a cancer survivor of 26 years. All this will come to pass especially pain. Its natural to cry so cry until you can’t shed any more tears. I Refocused my mind quick smart from the “I’” and self pity to keep busy to save my sanity and went with the motto “life begins after diagnosis”, I started to appreciate my many blessings, and took the time to really focus on other senses like smell, taste etc, I look at images of homeless people and see them having a worse card dealt to them as I began to feel empathy rather than turning a blind eye, worst was actually listening and having a belly laugh at jokes I once thought was stupid and childish😊 Guess what..I was an “l” successful business woman at 36yrs with no time for kids unless they were my siblings offspring...after that dreadful day I’ve since had a very handsome 25yr son and a 24 yr beautiful daughter. Our pathway in life is variedMy prayers with you my girl. Stay blessed 😊

I am so glad that the surgery is behind you and that you can now move forward. My left armpit area was totally numb for over ten years following my mastectomy, due to all of the lymph nodes that were taken. The numbness makes it difficult when shaving, so take special care when doing that. Something else that I recall was a 'zinging' feeling inside my chest following surgery that lasted for quite some time. When I asked, it was explained to me that this was the nerves healing, so it's a good thing. Surgery puts a heavy strain on your body, so give yourself time to heal. You'll be tired, have low energy and will be on an emotional rollercoaster. Hopefully, knowing that your 'sisters' out in You Tube land have also been through this process and came out on the other side, will be of some comfort to you. Please share more when and if you are up to it. Congrats on the magazine and Happy Holidays to you and yours. TFS.

It is amazing that you shared your cancer journey. It’s needed, people being honest and normalising taking about it to help you get though.

It is so hard to hear what you are going through - your pain and discomfort and am amazed that you can share it with others. I listened to your account and wondered what I would do. I hope that I would have your courage and your will to live to get me through it. I just want you to be well again.
