Not all breast pumps are running the same type of technology- in fact to be categorized as a breast pump it just has to be designed to remove milk from the breast. Understanding the technology you are using to express your milk and support your supply in essential to your success in the age of new technologies with limited to no oversight.

Thank you very much for this super educational video. I wont even bother buying a wearable.

This is great, Jessica! Your original blog post of the same title has had great info. For people who learn by seeing and hearing, I expect the video and demo with the decoy breast will really bring the point home. Thank you!

This is such helpful information. The information you gather through testing and through your work with other moms is so much more helpful than a single influencer's perspective. I so appreciate that you share this information out to the community. My first was a tongue-tie baby so I am preparing for the event that I may need to pump again to establish milk supply. I was wondering about some wearables since they are handy for travelling so this is very helpful to know.

This might be useful for someone that, for whatever reason, won't breastfeed but needs to release the milk without stimulating more milk production.

Theoretically yes but the timescale in which this works would likely be longer and for some people we don't see the effect. We typically would use hand expression to more rapidly address this need :)

I’m currently using the blue spectra at home (5 weeks PP) and I also have the willow 360(not having a good experience😢, so I stopped using it) I’m a nurse and I’m looking for a wearable pump that I can use when I go back to work… which one would you recommend? I really want to protect/increase my supply Also, im so glad I came across your videos! You’re so knowledgeable and your attention to detail is amazing👌🏻 I will 100% recommend your videos to other mamas.

It would be hard to recommend a pump just based on this but likely Willow Go or Zomee Fit

Hi Jessica! Does the Lansinoh Discreet Duo also have a push not pull motor? Only asking because it looks very similar to the mom cozy M5 model you showed here

I don't suspect it does- I think it's just a basic cheap rebranded wearable.

Follow up comment/question - Is there a reason Genuine Lactation does not include the names of the pumps mentioned in this video? I imagine for people researching these brands (Lasinoh, Motiff Aura, M5) this content would be super relevant but perhaps harder to find in a typical search engine absent the pump’s Name in the title ?

Lol I wish I could say it was intentional- but it's more a byproduct of having messed up the description! I just added links to the individual pumps and reviews and as new pumps launch with this technology I will add them!

So what are the better options and cost effective options ?
@genuinelactation
@genuinelactation 2 месяца назад
A better option would be a pump with more traditional technology that is from a company with good customer service and solid proven performance. Cost effective means too many things to different people to really comment on that.

what are the cost effective better outcomes or ppl
@genuinelactation

Almost any pump can produce better outcomes than these pumps long term! We have too many pumps on the market with too many varying features to name specific pumps for any one mom though!

Does the momcozy s9 or 12pro have the same issues?
@genuinelactation
@genuinelactation 4 месяца назад
No the s9 and s12 pro are standard wearable pump technology. Still lower quality overall with limited warranty support but a much safer pumping option than the m5

Are there any wearable pumps that you do recommend? I already have multiple plug in wall pumps from my first pregnancy but was hoping to be able to get a wearable for my next baby as I’m sure I won’t be able to sit around as much.

@@genuinelactation i understand now though why output is horrible w the Lansinoh wearable.. I do fine w the 2.0 and 3.0. idk why a company like lansinoh and motif would market technology under a trusted medical brand that could ultimately tank women's supply. To me that is incredibly unethical.

@@nms4521 it's about sales. These are not their unique designs- these are imported designs with tweaks. And motif is out for sales for DME's so the cheaper the better. Have you tried the lansinoh cups with lansinoh 2.0 and 3.0

@@genuinelactation I have tried the cups with the Lansinoh 3.0 and baby buddha, Medela freestyle flex, and the spectra 9. I don't respond great to hard plastic cups anymore. It's crazy bc my pumping journey in 2019 and 2020 for those 2 babies consisted of the baby buddha and s9 with freemie cups a lot of the time for work and I thought I had good output but looking back now I was pumping with a 28mm flange and I am a 17mm lol. Anyways I just don't respond well to the hard plastic cups.. Elvie stride, freemie, cara cups, Lansinoh.. I need something silicone that I can feel vibration and some kind of massaging thru. Now, since I had found the hack to use pumpin pals w Elvie OG and then the new Elvie cushions that has been what I have done the best with. I am 13 months post partum and as I get farther away from that birth of my baby I have noticed that getting my body to respond to pumps has been a lot harder. Right now my baby buddha from 2019 with s12pro cups/pumping pals as inserts and then the Elvie setups I just mentioned are really the only way I get good output .. I do feel like since my body adjusted to the Elvie pump it does not like other pumps at all. I never had an issue like this until I started using the Elvie most of the time. I don't even respond to my symphony anymore! It's so weird. Have you seen this happen to others? This is the longest I have ever pumped, 6 months was my previous journeys so this is all new territory for me.
