My youngest daughter does this when shes overtired or gets very upset. The first time she did it around 7 months old i called an ambulance as i thought she swollowed something. Its terrifying. Shes just turned 3 and still does it. I try to calm her down before an episode if i can. Blowing on the face usually works or spraying water on their face. Every episode leaves you shook for a very long time, its horrendous. Thank you for the video about it.
I know this is an old video but my son Caleb has started doing this recently and this video has helped Ty Also ps my older sons name is Silas lol love it
I found this video because my son who is 1 year old also has breath holding spells. It’s terrifying! Thank you for sharing, I feel like I could have made this video myself! it’s reassuring to have a mama relate. We are going to try the Gatorade, sodium and tipping him as we normally just hold him, pat him and blow on him. I hope little Silas out grows it soon💕
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! I’m sorry you are going through this it is scary! Silas is thankfully outgrown this now. He is 3 and hasn’t had one since he was 1. I hope to make an updated video soon! Hope things get better for your baby soon too! Sending much love ❤️
@@pallavipraveen6836 he held his breath for a short period but I never counted because I was so scared. I just remember him turning purple and then passing out and me blowing on his face or taking him outside and he would wake back up. He is 3 now and doesn’t have them anymore. I’m planning to do an updated video about this soon!
@@pallavipraveen6836 I don’t believe it was a minute but my son is now 3 so I’m not really sure. You definitely should tell your sons doctor. My son went and saw a heart doctor as well and he was fine. Always better to get them check out!
Thank you for this video. My baby boy almost just passed out some time back . At least now I can understand why he's been crying bitterly until he turns blue.
Ondine's Curse? I thought it can only happen at night during sleep but just checked AI and it said, "While the condition is more severe during sleep, individuals with Ondine's Curse may experience symptoms even when awake, highlighting the complexity and challenges associated with this disorder." It's a congenital disorder. (I first heard about it from the story of Hunter-Hopkins and the story of Linda Hopkin but she was a young adult.)
If I researched correctly this disease you are referring to is one that affects people in their sleep. Breath holding spells happen when the child is awake and in a fit of anger or in pain from something. In my case my child never had any issues sleeping or never stopped breathing when sleeping. Thanks for commenting about this though!
I’m glad I could help but please be sure to have him checked out by his doctor. As a parent we can never feel bad for getting things looked at when we don’t know what’s wrong with them!
@@alexblack3382 thanks for your reply.... My baby also do the same when he was 47 days old.... After the breath holding spell he became very tiered and sleepy.... What about your baby???? And how is your baby health now
Yes it is so terrifying! I’m sorry you are experiencing this! There is hope though my son only had a couple and then we learned how to control them and now he is 3 and hasn’t had another one since he was about 11 months
It’s so hard to keep calm .. my daughter had one yesterday and my anxiety is through the roof still today. It’s apparently so common but it’s terrifying for a parent to go through
Yes I know it is terrifying! I hope your daughter will outgrow them soon! I plan to do my next video on an update with my son and how he is doing 2 years later
Our daughter is just over 6 months old and has had roughly 5 incident's of these since roughly 5 months old. 2 just in the last two days. Yesterday was the worst and longest one yet. By far the absolute worst experience my wife and I have ever had to deal with and try to understand. We are having her seen again today 11-29-22 to see what tests can be ran just to be safe and sure. When the happens with our daughter her arms and legs go straight forward "stiff", she kinda acts like she is doing a crunch, face turns red and then bluish-purple. We are just absolutely terrified and hoping someone has some advice.
I am so sorry you are experiencing this. That sounds so scary! I hope you can find some answers. Please keep me posted because I didn’t know babies that young could have breath holding spells. Again I am very sorry and I hope your doctors can figure out what is wrong with your baby girl!

I think my daughter has that. She is 7 weeks old. She usually has that in the car or in the plane..i think im dying, i can't cope with the stress anymore. The doctors answer was: she is too young, her cardio-resp system ist not mature enough, she forget to breath.
I need to have a word with my nephew! Silas is lucky that I have not gotten my second vaccine yet. I literally started taking notes around the 6 minute mark, LOL!
😂 Girl he has thrown me all the curveballs. From reflux, dairy allergy, eczema, breath holding spells and more! Every child is different and I love him but he definitely has me feeling like I know nothing about parenting from Arabella
