Love the emphasis on time keeping. If it isn't in the pocket, the tone doesn't matter. The best pedal investment I made was a looper......not for playing multiple parts but for learning, and boy, did I learn I need to work on playing in time. Close to right is still wrong.
Justin, there are tons of teachers on you tube but imo, i learn the quickest from you. I enjoy your lessons mate! They are acurate andin depth. You seem to be a very happy, genuine person who enjoys what he does, and it shows. Thank you. Roxk on !
Sylvester I think we’d be best friends. Lol Neil is my favorite of all time, and Pink Floyd is right there with him. I have ever Neil album on vinyl and working on Pink Floyd collection. They’re a little more expensive than Neils lol
Hey Justin. Was out of guitar playing for like 5 past years. But still remember my first lessons by your videos from like 2008 or something and also great live chats from the beginning of 2010s. What do I wanna say? You just don't age at all! Glad to see you again, teacher.
Awesome Justin! Probably my most favorite band of all time!! Got into the Floyd when I was in high school back in the early 70's... Great stuff back then. Keep it up!
I agree there is value in learning it as played originally. After that you can improvise all you want. But as you said learning new ways of playing, challenging your technique, etc. are good for your playing in the end.
Wanted to play that for thirty years only managed to get the basic chords and fluff it. Actually managed to pick up those little variations up to the 14th fret. Thanks very much 👍
Thanks for the lesson Justin! It's really cool to be able to play this like the record, and you're right - in such a 'simple' song, it's the little details that matter!
Justin is a great teacher and guitarist very easy to follow his lesson and timing and detail top drawer you just can't get much better than Justin his knowledge and expertise excellent
Thank you so very, very much. You have been my teacher for a long time. I just received my phase pedal today, so I’m getting back into Pink Floyd lessons. Thanks again “Mate” from across the pond!
I enjoyed listening to you play this on its own, you got the effect and tone just right. Practising those fiddly bits in A is just awesome, thanks so much 😎
Yeeeeessss, finally some full Pink Floyd lesson, loving the sound and the look of that guitar, specially those symbols in the 12 fret! Keep up the good lessons!
Thanks so much, Justin, for this in-depth analysis. I've played the chord progression of "Breathe" many times, but never with all the nice fills you show. Also, your lesson inspired me to find the kind of sound that would suit the song best. My gear is very different than yours. I'm playing my brand-new Danelectro on the bridge double-lipstick humbucker through a TC Electronic Dreamscape pedal using the Flanger I or Vibe I setting; either sounds rather nice.
Are you reading my mind? Just yesterday I started building my list of goals for 2021. In the music section it included 'Learn and perform at least 2 Pink Floyd songs for my cover band'. 'Breathe' was the first choice! Now for the second song I'm torn between 'Wish You Were Here', 'Comfortably Numb', and 'Run'. Sigh. So many great choices. Thanks for your post!
Just my humble opinion, but everyone does Wish You Were Here.... Do Comfortably Numb instead. It's another great song that doesn't get enough attention. That is, if your band has the harmony chops to pull it off as I think they are just as important as the instrumentation.
Hey Justin, kudos on the most accurate and well explained Breathe tutorial on YT. Your last few lessons have been through the roof. Thank you for the amazing uploads! Cheers!👍👍
Great tutorial. Nice breakdown of how the sound was reached. I'm amazed of how close I get with my new/used Vox vt20x modeling amp with adjusting just a couple of buttons and dials.
As usual, spot on Justin.....starting with the complete demo before you get into the lesson is an excellent idea.....your playing and teaching are always great, well articulated and demonstrated.....your channel is a wonderful tool for guitar players
Thanks for this Justin! One of the greatest chill songs of all time and such a great guitar sound (and such great vocals). Thanks for the great Neil Young and Pink Floyd lessons. Also, your guitar course that I ordered has helped me out a great deal. Have a great week! 🤠
Amazing once again awesome player only just started out playing thank you for doing teaching on RU-vid I don't have much money so it's thanks to you me and my daughter are learning to play 12 bar blues just need to figure out the strumming pattern
Now that so many of us aspiring guitarists have The Katana Amp. it would be really nice if you could enlighten us with a recepie of settings on Katana using the univibesetting for this tune. - Just as a treat. Love what you are doing, you have been a great part of my learning process ever sinse I began my journey , now 7 yrs. ago. You made it possible and worthwhile keeping the "struggle" going. - THANKS !!!
Hey Justin I just watched your lesson for sunshine of your love by cream and you said at the end you would probably get around to doing the solo but it’s seems you never did. If you could do a lesson on it soon that would be amazing! Thanks
I highly recommend the Electro Harmonix Good Vibes. It's not cheap (ca. 145$), but to my ear, it comes really close to the original Univibe. It's a bit finicky, needs to be run with its included power supply. Other than that, it really gets you into Gilmour territory.
