What is the most fundamental aspect of our survival and wellbeing that we most commonly overlook? In this inspiring talk, Joe DiStefano reveals the importance of getting back to fundamentals through our own breath.
Joe DiStefano is a lifestyle and fitness expert who solves chronic health problems with simple lifestyle adjustments. Over the past five years, he has lectured on coaching, training, nutrition, lifestyle, and obstacle race preparation all over the world, to experts and professionals from over 30 countries. He is currently the Director of Sport at Spartan Race, the world’s leading obstacle racing company. Joe is also the founder of RUNGA, an eight-day retreat in Costa Rica designed to help busy people unplug and unwind.
Joe’s philosophy of health revolves around simple lifestyle changes that anyone can make at any time. His simple method, which he first used to recover from a traumatic brain injury, revolves around the optimization of breathing, movement, and sleep patterns. He has used it to help several thousand clients, and his work has been featured in several print and online publications such as Men’s Health, Men’s Journal, Outside, and SELF.
Joe currently lives in Boston, MA.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I have been using this technique for 2 days before going to bed. Results: I have slept 2 nights in row, with no pain and no pain meds. So last night I forgot to do it. Today the tightness and pain is incredible. I won't forget tonight.

Did you do the baby positions or the balloon blow up (or both)? Did the results last?
@kandid898

I did the baby positions. As long as I did them, the pain was gone. I slowly fell off the horse. Till I forgot about them. Tonight, I saw the comment. So, I did the happy baby. Too tired for the others. I will start back tomorrow. 🤞🏽and by some balloons. 🎈

Unless if you have already experienced what he is talking about, alot of people will go home and pick back up where they left off and give it no more thought. But if you go through the experience of his talk yourself and Trust the importance of breathe, then your life will start to change for the better, with consitance pratice of course..💙 ~~~Peace~~~

I loved this. I've been teaching Pilates for 18 years, so I totally understand the importance of breathing right. I also knew that heart rate variability has a very close association with heart disease risk, but I've never seen the two put together like this. Massive light bulb moment, thanks so much. Excellently presented.

Excellent! I've been recovering from an overwhelming illness for 2.5 years. I am just realizing how much this kind of therapy has contributed to my apparent recovery. Just wanted to encourage you to pay attention to your breath. You can recover from most anything. The sympathetic overdrive is probably the biggest reason I (and many others) got sick.

Question everything and do your own research. Especially on vital topics like health and politics. Also stop using Google and opt for an uncensored search engine like duckduckgo or startpage. There is much more but that’s a good start.

Seeing this video again. I remember pulling grass on rock landscape for 2 hours with 2 heels level on the ground. I got sore on my hamstrings a day or two later but my back was at its best. These baby positions never fail, sitting on a chair or stool while working low on the ground does more harm on your body than good.
