One of the best and simplest bit of advice I got is to memorise triad shapes and incorporate them into your solos. Even just learning three triad shapes is enough. So, you switch between scales, your favourite licks, and tossing in a triad every once in a while. Why is this so effective? Well, mainly because you can play it in so many different ways, like playing single notes from the triad, or playing 2 or even all 3 notes at once. Plus, since not too many guitarists do it, your solos will stand out more.
