Like a lot of basic things it seems as though society has steered it all in an unhealthy direction. 3 basics I have been focused on, nutrition, breathwork and foot health. All 3 things are ways I process life, from picking up information about my environment with my feet, to fueling my body the correct way and being in control of all systems by maintaining my breathing(calm heart, calm mind). Our shoes are too thick and not shaped to our feet, our food is ultra processed and as you pointed out here that a deep breath became common because of TB and deep breaths in Yoga from an American author... and the biggest thing about these is that they are all new or recent. This is what is mind-blowing, this society thinks it knows better than.... the ancients, who have maintained life for thousands of years. Truly in a time where it is a struggle to be healthy and calm and focused to live life correctly and I believe the only way through is through the breath, good clean food and getting the toes in the ground! Thanks for the info, better go buy that book.

Hard to disagree with a word you say @laylowleee. In terms of nutrition alone, just look at what our modern diets are doing to our facial structure, with more high sugar processed foods being a big factor in craniofacial development issues in huge proportions of modern kids. We can avoid many issues like receding jaw if we eat the right things and nose breathe. Weston A Price knew the effects of food from his work a century ago. His 1939 book 'Nutrition and Physical Degeneration' covered this in detail and more recently, books like 'The Dental Diet' by Dr. Steven Lin are helping more people to see this.

@@OxygenAdvantage Thanks for recommending some books because to align my jaw(and posture) is my next step in my wellness journey. I know from watching Neil Hallinan that our jaw is connected to our pelvis which influences our posture, Bonnie Bainbridge also notes that the throat is also connected to the perineum. So it is all connected from top to bottom however there is no one method that fixes all of course. Its a series of wellness practices that are ancient and have luckily survived. Thanks for all your research in the field.

what about ujjayi breath in vinyasa yoga
@OxygenAdvantage
@OxygenAdvantage 7 месяцев назад
As it is full nasal breathing, we very much see the advantages of ujjayi breathing @jurgenheilbrunner3618. Also, the constricting of the throat helps slow the breathing which is very beneficial. We are always talking about the benefits of making your breathing light, slow and low. Of course keeping the throat, jaw, etc. relaxed during ujjayi is essential. Nothing should ever be forced.

@@OxygenAdvantage. Unless you're a singer or your voice is important to you. It's not great for vocal cords.

Absolutely @@Dakota.Covers We wouldn't usually advise air going through the throat and advise total nose breathing where possible. But for those not used to or aware of nose breathing or reduced breathing, ujjayi is not a bad place to start.
