Agreed with most of the review but for a couple of points that made me think that it may come down to which room you get. Firstly was the wifi. We found it to be the best we've ever experienced. The speed was incredible and we could stream easily. Second was the room. We quite enjoyed the decor and our TV was much larger than yours. I do agree that the furniture should be replaced/upgraded and the dampness was an issue. The bed was insanely comfortable! But again. Overall your review was spot on!

Just returned today from Breathless Punta Cana, your review is spot on, don't be disappointed you did not get the Ribeye , it's mediocre as well, we also selected XHALE, our room really nice. The musty smell is still noticeable. French Restaurant is the best by far Keep up the great reviews

Headed to Dreams Onyx in 2 weeks, Excited/Afraid to see your review. Glad my Wife and I aren't staying at Breathless for a week. Looks fun for 3-4 days but a long week would be tough.

I was really worried you were going to hate this property 😃 We are booked here with friends for the end of April and I'm glad to see your opinion lines up with most I have seen. Overwhelmingly positive. I think we got a much better price going at the end of April, because I didn't feel it was expensive versus other similar resorts.

I loved this hotel when I went a few months after it opened. My room was ground floor swim up with the party pool straight ahead. Upgraded for free. The party pool actually had a foam party going when we arrived for St.Patrick’s Day and it was a blast. Foam party every day. The room was gorgeous and clean. Food definitely wasn’t good but when everything else checked the boxes I don’t care if the food is good and I got a deal since it was new working out it’s kinks. Met great people and enjoyed the bed with the deck on top at the beach on the exhale side they had. My friend and I got to kite surf for free cause he said we were pretty lol. Hot tubs were always hot. Regular pool was gorgeous. Drinks were yummy. I brought cards against humanity game and had fun with guests playing. It’s only resort we thought about returning to but my guess is it won’t live up to the first trip. I have my eye on Riu Republica to party and then La Catalonia La Romana to relax.

I was there this month and yes, we had some issues with the rooms, we were a big group and all our rooms were humid, wifi was horrible, food was average and drinks not the best. I liked the pool and beach was clean.

Hey Thanks so much for this video. I’m looking for a spot to go for my sabbatical or fellas only trip and a few people recommended for my 50th. You kept mentioning RIU. For a small group of guys looking to have a good time would you recommend this place in June? Any other recommendations would be appreciated. We also wanted to be conveniently located to local gentleman’s bars and lounges in the city as well.

JUST came back from Breathless & I agree with a good bit of this. The biggest thing I can agree on is the food. The Breathless Burger is definitely mediocre compared to the Ribeye. The Ribeye was so good, that we went back on our last night just to have it again. Also, if you go back, definitely catch the nighttime pool party. I think you'll enjoy it more than the other nighttime events.

Great review and very helpful, thank you. Did the Xhale upgrade improve your room choices at all or is that "package" just for upgrades around the resort? My wife and I are going here because we booked so late and the Hyatt branded property we usually stay at in Jamaica was not available for points. Breathless Punta Cana was far and away the lowest points per night cost in all of the Caribbean so I'm just trying to set my expectations at that value.

Just returned from Breathless today. Your review is mostly bang on. I would argue that Culinaria is the second best restaurant but maybe you didn't eat there. But your negatives are 100% correct. If you require internet in your room then go somewhere else. It is virtually non-existent in the rooms. Wifi was better at the Xhale Club because it is apparently supplied by an outside company so an additional reason to upgrade. The rooms are showing their age for sure but functionally they are nice. The other big negative for me was the lack of chairs everywhere. Forget about a seat at the beach or the pool if you don't get there well before 6am. Very frustrating and easily fixable. Lastly, as an FYI, the buffet at Dreams Onyx is much better than Breathless so it might be the only reason to hop over there. Cheers!.

I just returned from vacation at Breathless. I agree about the menu selections. I also didn't think the drinks were too good. You have to upgrade to Xhale in order to get a Corona beer. Otherwise everything was great 👍🏾

I’m at breathless now. After the 3rd day you learn your way around. 1st two days your overwhelmed by people trying to take your money and sell you stuff. Once you can get passed being nice to people and saying no you’ll have a good time. My wife and I are are in our mid 30’s and this place had both the young and older crowd which is cool with me. We tend to get along with the older crowd more than the college kids. So that’s fine. The beach is nice with friendly workers and beach goers. If you can get past the seaweed you’ll be fine. It is actually a ecology thing so they take care of it on the beach. The restaurants tend to get very crowded at evening time so get there quick If you want to eat quick. If you get there at 6:30-8 you’ll be waiting. Yes menus don’t have that much selection. But it’s a all inclusive. They aren’t going to wine and dine you till no end. Let’s be real here. The pools are cool. Not much in the aspect of crazy slides or thrill seeking. They have volleyball nets. It’s really just a place for relaxation. But be prepared to spend your nights in a room that is literally a cave. You hear everything going on in the hall ways. Example: cleaning staff, drunk people waking you up at 2am. If you’re into beer there is only presidente beer. Mixed drinks are endless. This is my first time to Punta Cana. First real vacation spot was Hawaii so there’s no comparison. I really like that everyone is nice. There’s no fights over stupid stuff. Everyone is friendly. If you don’t know Spanish (I don’t). There definitely is a language barrier. But once you get to learn that they try their hardest to speak English you get past that. For people coming here for the first time I say don’t be the victim of the people trying to sell you everything for crazy crazy amounts of money on the beach. Even the 100$ voucher that is offered by what you think is part of your hotel stay. It isn’t. You’re not entitled to it unless you sit through their presentation. You have to sit through a 1 hour or so ordeal of hotel people trying to sell you a vacation package. If I can do it again I would listen closely to their very fast Spanish speaking salesman just trying to make commission on a sale and take it with a grain of salt. Don’t be a victim unless you really are into the packages. Once you get past all the bs your vacation will begin. Enjoy!

We've done Breathless, Cancun (4) times, but have never done Breathless, Punta Cana. My wife likes to go topless, so between the (3) pools...(1) pool is designed as topless optional. People around that designed pool are respectful to (All) the women that are topless. Does Breathless, Punta Cana have a topless optional pool?

Wow I went in 2019 wi-fi was strong had a seperate access point near my room and speed test was around 40mbps. I used my streaming device on the TV even had some remote meetings. Was really surprised how the quliaty of room and wifi experience was for you things have changed for the worse it seems

James my flight last month to Cancun from Tijuana was 150 round-trip 4.5 hours non stop. My question is the DR head and shoulders better than cancun. I stayed at secrets the vine and want to do you JW Marriott non all inclusive next time I feel the need to leave the country.

Us 46 year Olds will do 4.5 staring hopes of not being around the young jersey shore crowd that have hard body's and hard habits. After doing Cancun I'm looking forward to Ala Carte dinning in South Beach or JW Cancun. I want service!

We need to round up all of James fans and petition him to go back to Miami Beach and stay at " the 1" i think this will be better than the mia.i beach edition hotel. But yeah after watching this I appreciate Miami more for the feeling g of renting a car and feeling safe to dine off property and to have my custom drinks. I plan on spending 150.00 a day at the pool. And if we ever can get James to back to 4 star with 4 star expectations look no further than the Nautilus south beach. MA that place is sweet. Then you can walk to prime 112 steak house and enjoy the A.C.

You still need to go back to Riu Republica before you leave the country... Friday and Monday pool partys.. Sunday night pool party... Weds night Neon Party... Sat night Beach party..... I would go there 6 nights from Weds to Tuesday and get the best of everything. Yes.. Reason there are more 40 + at this compared to Riu Republica is cause of Price.. younger 20s-30s can't afford to spend as much as 40+ but I'm sure you know this already!

Dominican resorts generally have poor maintenance. Resorts are basically good few years after opening then after you can see broken thinks that nobody repair

The resort is Beautiful however there are most certainly some ugly aspects of the resort which I think should be mentioned.#1 when first checking in we automatically became part of a Time sharing pitch. #2 We go to the Caribbean area solely to swim in the sea. Although the beach has a pristine appearance there are many treacherous rocks beneath the surface.#3 Breathless Dose not have it's own Gym.The Gym thats shared with it's sister resort is too small to accommodate two resorts.#4 This should not be a issue but it can ruin a vacation experience. Although It's not fair to many of the wait staff because there are more great service workers then a few that refuse to provide service when not tipped not to mention menacing stares. Just a few of these encounters can make anyone question why did we spend so much money for this level of service. Top shelf alcohol is rare if at all. We found that the food was very good btw.
