All valuations were correct at the time of broadcast. This Japanese Satsuma pottery, crafted by Kinkozan in 1853, has been handed down through the generations of a family. The extraordinary piece is recognised for its crackled glaze, hand-painted gold dots and its pristine condition. Hugh Scully and the experts from Antiques Roadshow take a look at some fantastic antiques and the history and stories surrounding them. This clip was filmed at Knebworth House in 2000.
Welcome to the home of Antiques Roadshow on RU-vid. Here you'll find all the best clips from Britain's most popular antiques appraisal show. From items that have been handed down the generations to those picked up in junk shops, discover their history and delight in the possibility that it could in fact be a priceless treasure.

I think he was trying to make a funny with that 'bit of satsuma' line. She didn't take the bait.

“This is one I can read: … Öoi-shihh-zahn..“ 🤣😂🤡 This guy speaks not a single word Japanese - should have given credit to the guy who transcribed the characters for him.. Also, prices for Satsuma dropped tremendously since the 90s. Highly doubtful that this piece goes anyway near 8k..
