@MarkJRatcliffeArt

Thank you so much. Unfortunately translucent and pearlescent are different chemical make ups so you won’t get the same effect. The pearlescent paints react when the light hits a dark background and reflects from the particles in the paint. Congratulations on your creativity and carry on having fun with pouring

What black are you using? I know people using creative inspirations are not getting the results they want? I’m using lamp black by Amsterdam. Your pearlescent puddles might also be too thick. You need to stretch them out so the paint layer is thin (if that makes sense) x
@pamelar3607
@pamelar3607 Год назад
So much fun ! Love the result. Beautiful! I do have a couple questions. I didn't see so much of the black background paint in the final pic. So do u always need to use a black color or dark color? & what do u think would happen if u added just one of the regular acrylic paints in the middle of a few if the puddles? Just a thought. Good morning Mark. Love the video Again! 🙋🏼‍♀️
@MarkJRatcliffeArt
@MarkJRatcliffeArt Год назад
Thank you so much. Yea you can mix and match the paints but the backgrounds must be dark otherwise the pearlescent paints won’t work. Pearlescent won’t work on a white or light background as it’s to do with the light reflecting off a black background

@loricleary4473
@loricleary4473 Год назад
Beautiful!! I wonder if the irridescent pigments would work the same as the Amsterdam paints??♥️
@MarkJRatcliffeArt
@MarkJRatcliffeArt Год назад
Thank you! Maybe but as you probably know Pearlescent and Iridescent “work” differently. Pearlescent refers to the ability of a surface to reflect light in white. In other words, the surface can only reflect light in white color, not in any other color. That is why all the colors look white before drying. Iridescent refers to the ability of some surfaces to appear as a gradual change in color upon the angle of view is changed. In other words, iridescence means the change of appearance of a surface when we look at it from different angles. iridescent are already a solid color before pouring and can change in certain lights.

I love your work Mark and these Pearlescent paints! Can’t wait to get to the next videos. I’m working my way through all of them. When you are using the Owatrol as a PM, do you mix a little water with it before or after the paint? I have some that I bought early on and thought I would never use but you seem to really like it. I notice that you have stopped adding the varnish too so assume it wasn’t needed or you prefer it without. Thankyou for your videos.

@MarkJRatcliffeArt 10 месяцев назад
Thank you so much. I always add the water once I’ve mixed the paint and pouring medium together. No reason really I don’t use the gloss varnish, but as I always gloss varnish afterwards I’ve not noticed a real difference in the finished product. @MarkJRatcliffeArt

The pearlescent paints work better on dark backgrounds as they need the light to go through them and bounce off the background (white won’t have that effect)

@MarkJRatcliffeArt
@MarkJRatcliffeArt Год назад
Thank you! My understanding is Oxide Black can overwhelm Color’s more than lamp black (as it’s more stable in terms of properties). If your Color’s are not as vibrant it could be because you need to stretch them out a bit more as you might have too much mixture in a puddle or a place which doesn’t allow the light to go through them, bounce off the black and reflect the light through the particles the paints are made from because it’s all to do with reflection of light

I know I asked you what you use for top coat and I think you replied but I missed it and I can't find it. Do you resin it or use a spray lacquer?
@MarkJRatcliffeArt
@MarkJRatcliffeArt Год назад
It’s a spray varnish - usually gloss or high gloss - by Winsor and Newton 👍🏻

Thank you and I didn't correct the words on the text above on ratios. I was just in text-to-speech and forgot to check the words. With that said can you show how it runs off your stick or does it leave amount cuz I have no idea how much paint is in those other four cups. I know it's got to have more floetrol in water, just not sure how thin ? Thank you so much 💓

Wow, how lovely 😊 I am really enjoying this series. I see so many different things going on in this piece. Thank you for your time and how you explain every step. I started getting a few things to start painting. Then my mom was and is very ill, and I am taking care of her. I can not be in the middle of painting, and then she needs help. It is a 24/7. It has been six months so far. I have still been getting canvases here and there when I can leave the house. Thank you very much Mark. Have a lovely day

This is simply stunning Mark. Well done yet again. You've taken a method of which I have not ben enamoured and made me want to do it. Have you made a video of the paint consistency for this type of pour? If so, could you please direct me as I must have missed it.
@MarkJRatcliffeArt
@MarkJRatcliffeArt Год назад
Thank you so much. It’s the same consistency you’d use for a ring pour tbh. Not too runny but not too thick (I guess like honey but a little more fluid). I haven’t made a video on paint consistency. Thanks so much for your kind words
