Gorgeous up there Dean, great trip & really enjoyed this little set of films Thankyou, it’s a few years now since I did the Pen y Fan horseshoe… I wildcamped in the dry reservoir you mentioned…mine & two friends most memorable camp ⛺️ there’s a stunning island in the middle and a stream. Thanks again 👍🏻
Another great video Dean, enjoyed it again! Been up to pen y fan once, absolutely loved it up there. Got similar weather to you, so glad we both got good weather! Keep up the good work, cheers Joe! 👍🏻🏔
A few years back, I did some voluntary work for the National Trust doing path work on Pen-Y-Fan. I'm sure I spotted a couple of the stones I dropped in on your walk back! :) Another great vid - nice one buddy.
Did the loop last February, but we started from the other side and headed straight up to Pen y Fan, ticking off the others afterwards. Had dodgy weather that day and had nothing like the views you guys experienced. Ended up of piste like a couple of amateurs and had to wade through a freezing river. Good fun though all the same! Good video.
Great vid as always, ive camped near a little village called crickhowel, semi wild camp, near a stream in an old Litchfield, they were the days ,tent quality and style has changed since then ,i now go for the lazy pop ups😁⛺👍
Another great video dean. Have you any more walks coming up. I’m doing skiddaw Monday then travelling to do scafell pike tues live that walk. Nice couple days away.
Thanks for watching Kevin. I've got 4 or 5 more videos to edit to get myself up to date. Camping and running mainly but will get some more walks in too 👍
Another fine video Dean. I am heading that way in Aug and was thinking about Pen-Y-Fan, but this has given me the perfect, slightly longer walk. Planning a very early start as I know the road/parking gets really busy on nice days. Keep them coming mate. #teamhobnob
That looked like another fab walk Dean. Always enjoy watching your videos. I think you should have had a go at pronouncing those Welsh names. Your pronunciation attempts were one of the highlights of your Pennine Way adventure 😆
It's not worth trying as I know I'll get it wrong 🤣 We are running the Pennine Way in sections at the weekend at the moment and I came across another place that isn't pronounced how it looks while on the train.... Slaithwaite... It's pronounced 'Sla-wit' 😁 I just can't win, how are we supposed to know that 🤣
@@DeanRead haha 😂. Don’t forget though that our friends in Yorkshire have invented their own take on the English language. No offence intended to anyone from Yorkshire reading this comment 😬😆
It's the same here in Derbyshire... Chrome Hill pronounced Crum Hill locally. Then there is Southwell in Nottinghamshire pronounced Suthall... It's a mine field 🤣🤣
Over grazing would definitely be an issue for new growth, also know that we chopped down lots of trees during and before the industrial revolution but I don't know if this area was effected.
Dean what a good thriple of film's these 3 were ,I did crib goch a couple of years ago from llyn gwynant campsite and returned down the Watkin path ,it certainly isn't for the faint hearted ,I did a vid of my version too although not a patch on yours, incidentally I was only at llyn gwynant early June this year when we decided to go up tryfan and onto the cantilever stone, look it up you'd love it . After seeing the Brecon beacons the wife and I have said we need to visit it, bit of a trek because I don't think there's a straight driving route there from chesterfield although it won't put us off , thanks again for an evening of great videography
Another cracking video and stunning location. Pen y Fan and Fan y Big (no sniggering at the back) are up on my to do list. You’ve certainly had the weather gods with you recently. Hopefully no ticks this time!
I've really enjoyed the last few weeks videos Dean, you are currently motoring through my list of 'to do' walks...Ben Nevis, Crib Goch and the Mach loop in quick succession! I'll get round to them at some point... Also very well done with the trail running, you've spent years marvelling at their fitness and now you're one of those people that jog past me on Kinder while I'm quickly expiring 😂
Thanks for watching Lee and for your kind words. I've enjoyed editing these last few videos. I took me a while to get around to it though, been really busy with work and adventures but I could/should have made time for it. I'm loving the trail running at the moment, I was thinking the other day about how I'd always thought that this type of fitness was out of my reach... I'm no way near where I'd like to be but with time I'll be able to run up the hills instead of fast walking. Then again, that's the beauty of trail running. I hear it's perfectly acceptable to walk sections so I'm more than happy doing that for now 😁👍
After 11 hours at work today, that was an amazingly relaxing video 😀. So many wonderful panoramic views, absolutely fantastic! I agree with you regarding the similarities with the Yorkshire Dales. Great video to a high standard as always Dean. I think I have run out of superlatives now 🤣 Thank you for sharing this, it helps wet my appetite for the next time I escape daily life and head out on another adventure. 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching Greg, I really enjoyed this walk as it's such a stunning area. Heading to the Yorkshire Dales soon as we've started running the Pennine Way in sections and videoing it 👍😎
That sounds amazing Dean, looking forward to those videos. I think your fitness level is way above mine 🤣. Seeing John Kelly finish in Edale and gain that amazing time record must have been really inspirational. I’ve read his detailed review of his own performance, really interesting. Absolutely amazing athlete, can’t believe it wasn’t more widely in the media as it is a massive achievement and that’s a massive understatement! 👍
He's an absolute machine and that run was breathtaking. I couldn't believe how fast he was going. It really was inspiring, between following people like him and listening to the @RichRoll podcast I've been inspired to up my mileage and see how far I can push myself.
I certainly was completely stunned not just by his physical ability but the mental toughness needed to endure that distance, pain and hardly any sleep. Sounds like you are doing well and making significant gains, so hats off to you too! I had a little test run down Cavedale a while ago just to see if I can still run over rough and loose ground. Didn’t fall over, so took that as a good sign!
