In this episode of TikisGeckos, we go in depth on the things you need to know about breeding your crested or gargoyle geckos. We cover breeding size, enclosures, breeding season, incubation periods and more!
I love your channel guys! Waiting for my Crested to reach maturity than I want to breed em with one of yours!! Looking forward to it. Thanks a lot for all of the advice! Keep up the good work! 👌🏽👌🏽
I've recently decided to get a gecko and my friend who owns a few already referred me to your channel and I must say that I have picked up a lot from y'all
Hi guys, first off, great videos. You have a great vibe and energy, a pleasure to watch. I was wondering, where can I get one of your amazing t- shirts? They are proper nice. Oh, and what is the banjo song being played throughout the video? Thanks again guys, great work! 😁
Great video guys, cresties and gargoyles are our next step up the ladder, if you have any tips for care and breeding in the uk 🇬🇧 we would love to hear them, a really well presented video, we will subscribe, steve and Michelle 🇬🇧
This helps me a lot and I'm probably going to breed my gecko soon they just need to be a little bigger. Do you think I could breed a male that doesn't have a bold yet?
Hi! Im thinking about starting a small breeding project with my crestie. Your breeding set ups look amazing, but what size boxes do you set them in? If you could reply a link to the boxes I could order a few and get breeding. Thanks Tiki Gecko's!
I love your videos guys! You have such beautiful geckos in your collection. Where can I go to see your availability of geckos for sale? Thanks for making these videos, I always learn so much from you guys!
Hey! Thanks for watching. You can always see our available geckos in the "available album" on our Facebook page. Facebook.com/tikisgeckos facebook.com/TikisGeckos/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1141896559206906
I see you have many eggs incubating at once. I assume that many are at different stages. Will the superhatch stay moist enough for the whole incubation of all the eggs?
TikisGeckos so I do not need to buy an incubator because you guys are doing really well for not having an incubator. I’m very new to geckos, I had no idea I can breed without an incubator
Hello! For the incubation box, should that just be kept in a dark area at 70-80 degrees? And how often should you check to see if they've hatched? Thanks!
@TikisGeckos hey, how much of a problem is inbreeding with cresties/gargoyles? do you regularily seek to freshen up your bloodlines by trading with other breeders or isn't that really an issue with the new caledonians?
It can definitely make the genetics weaker but its not such a big problem with reptiles as it is with mammals. We are always adding new lines to our projects because we want to keep them as strong as possible.
Hey guys, two questions. Is there any chance of a dimpled egg surviving? Or should I just toss the eggs an not waste my time? They dimpled within the first 2 weeks of incubation. Also, I had read that rotating the eggs was unacceptable? I'm guessing this is false?
Is repashy gecko diet a suitable food to feed them while breeding? And what if you only want like one or 2 clutches, how would you do That? Please help because I'm highly interested in breeding.
Can you answer my question in the summer me and my friend will bread geckos zilla his (male) Pooter mine (female) is it ok? Pooters cage is on my channel
Try taking the head off of the live crickets so they smell the cricket juices. Mine immedeatly took crickets when I did that. Leaned this tip from tikis geckos
Could I successfully breed geckos if I kept the same pair together indefinitely, or would it be better to keep them separate and introduce them only when breeding?
Hey, I would highly suggest against it as inbreeding generally leads to deformities and bad genetics. My 'minimum' for breeding in families is 1/32 (so the geckos great-great-grandfather or above more.) Hope that answers your question.
Is it ok to house a male and female crested gecko together? I'm planning on her having babies, but I don't my boy to keep "raping" her and bothering her, or is it ok? I'd just rather not separate them since they get along so well and I don't want to buy another cage. What's ur opinion
Ive had my gargoyle ( gordon ) for about 6 years since he was a baby from a private seller. I have tried so hard to find him a female companion but why are thwy so hard to find?!?! At least they are in my area
I'm taking in two babies and i have a couple questions hoping somebody here can help me out! I know two females are fine together for the most part, would males be okay if they are from the same clutch and have been together since hatching or is it a bad idea all around? Also i do not know the sexes so if one is a female and one is male, is there a chance of him impregnating her before i can even tell what the sexes are? I don't intend on breeding so i want to know kind of how early a female is able to get pregnant so i can avoid it.
Mari K You should definitely separate just in case they are of the opposite sex until you can take them to a vet or are for sure what their genders are. No you should not keep 2 males together, as for most reptiles, the males will eventually fight to the death to figure out who's dominant. Keeping them separate will also prevent this in case they are both males. In the video, they did say the males will have a bulge while females will not on their butts. Hope this helps
I knew males fight, but I've seen this channel and some others that house 2-3 babies/juveniles together before they are old enough to find out the sex and was kind of wondering what the circumstances are and when to separate them. That's why I was asking how soon a female is capable of being pregnant and specifically about males that are from the same clutch. Thanks though!
I was watching a video the other day And this guy went to New Caledonia where the crested geckos are found in the wild.he was say that CG have an internal clock that certain times of the year when the fruit is ripe there they may not want crickets.
I’m just here for incubating because surprise surprise my females laid fertile eggs. I got them together, and I know they were cohabited. She said they haven’t been bred but I seriously doubt both geckos would give me 2 fertile eggs each at the same time. I’m angry because it’s so irresponsible, I’m not prepared, luckily they take a couple months to hatch so I can make preparations but it’s so wrong to sell me geckos that have been bred without telling me!
i have used hatchrite kept it moist etc etc but have had 12 eggs die after around 40 days -.- i did the exact same thing i did last year and they all hatched perfect only difference is i have a new male can you tell me why they all die :'(
@@Goomiiu they are in separate tubs tho and when one dies i remove it form the two :/ could it be the male? i dont really know his background he was from a petshop
@@BEEASHTARDS I've never heard of such a thing. I'm not quite sure. If he has parasites I'm not sure if they can affect the eggs like that. Did the containers get washed with strong stuff or something? Really not sure.
@@Goomiiu nope always just water and i have no idea either they all hatched perfectly last year with a diff male i use hatchrite stuff they all hatched fine with it etc will try the other subsrait too and ive even lowered the temps. made them higher made them the right temp all cant hatch they try at 40 then die inside and we are using diff females aswell so cant be the females eggs
I love the video, but I have to say. A breeding pair and community of 4 need way bigger enclosures than what you recommend. A fully grown adult should have at least an 18 x 18 x 24 enclosure, and my pair I have in a 29g long conversion tank. I wouldn't recommend having this many animals in such a small enclosure
