Hi, if I were to home breed some fish, normally what are the difference of price ( interns of percentage ) between retail price and the price local aquarium willing to buy from me ? Understand that it is different in each country, but just a rough estimation
I have had fish breed but now I’m actually thinking about doing it for profit. How do you develop relationships with fish stores? Do you look for mom and pop stores or chain stores?
Where I live some chains will buy, some won't, it's just up to the store and their policy, But all self owned small ones around me buy from local breeders, so I'd suggest mom and pop shops first before chains(:
@@JHAquatics Sorry, I mean, when you are using it as a grow out. What water to fish ratio do you use as they grow? Particularly when they are mature. I have seen some breeding operations with over 100 fish in a 20g, presumably with LOTS of water changes. I just wondered what your stocking ratio is.
Hi there JH Aquatics - Greetings! First off I hope everyone is doing well since Irma. That was quite a video whew! I just wanted to say I released a Shout Out video for Jaden Aquatics Fishfam stickers and I showed some love being your 813th Subscriber. So be sure to check out that video when you get a chance. Great video and we hope to see much more soon. Take care and God Bless!
When you say “profit”, how much are week talking? Please correct me, but unless we’re talking show guppies, aren’t we talking pennies or maybe dimes per fish?
JH Aquatics I stand corrected! Really appreciate your being forthright on the price. Do you think it’s possible to make let’s say 100 K Per year, for the average guy with a basement set up? I know my local guy not the chain store, will take some stock on credit. But if he’s overstocked, which he is most of the time, then it’s a very polite no thanks. And of course that’s not unexpected.
@@CraigHawks Making 6 figures a year from fish is very optimistic. Most store owners won't even make that much. It's not impossible though, but it'll require significant investment. I'm thinking probably Asian Arowana and Fancy clownfish are the two main options for big investment big earnings in the breeding trade atm. Expect to burn through $15-$20k on starting a breeding project for these fish and good luck my dude!
Pump the brakes bro... there is literally negative profit in breeding zebra danios. Grow fast, hatch quickly, yes and yes. But dude you have to sell them for less than a dollar each. I accidentally bred them and hatched and raised over fifty. $15 for all of them was the best I got. I offered them for $1 each. I offered them for $0.50 each. No one wanted them. I finally brought the entire batch to an auction, split them into 2 lots and $15 is all I got. Do NOT breed zebra danios for profit. There is no profit to be had.
