New guppy cross breeding project! Keeping the females looking good and improving the males. Cross breeding and information and tips to help Part 2 (two month old guppies from this cross) • Breeding Guppies: Cros...
The smaller tails on the males seems similar to the forms that are typical of Endlers, as well as the wedge on the body; is it possible that your stock has Endler lineage?
I usually set up 2 trio breeding tanks each with 1 male and 2 females then set up another tank with a unrelated trio of same kind of male and same kind female as In first trio.then I breed tank 1 fry with tank 2 fry.
So I have these kinda guppies same as your also I have albino guppies as well in the same tank and the tank is properly planted. Will those two breed ?
I have mutt guppies & I was wondering being not ALL my males have the LONG tails but most of them do, so if I was to get some fancy females could I mate the long tailed males with the fancy females will I come up with long tailed guppies??
You can’t be selling guppies as pure strains and then have a sale tank with a mix of BOTH male and females of different strains in one tank.. they’ll crossbreed and then when they sell someone will be thinking they have purebreds and then a bunch of mutts will come out! Great video though!
Yeah, some advice: don't mix males and females. They kind of do this thing called mating. Some people want to know who the father of their fry is. It's hard enough finding virgin females for sale in LFSs as it is, please find the common courtesy to keep males and females separate so that the buyer can choose what males they mix with the females they get and they aren't already pregnant by an unknown male.
This crossbreeding experiment was over before it begun. Those females are literally a day or two from bursting with fry from some other male. That male is not going to be the father of any fry they give birth to in the foreseeable future. This 'crossbreed' seems to be very unfounded as well; those females are clearly from a random breeding joint and have no particular strain. Even if that purebred male was the father, those females would pump out very random colours. If you want to crossbreed you should start with 100% verified purebreeds so that you know for a fact the fry will be a combination of the two. This is essentially throwing a purebred into a random breeding tank and hoping they spruce up the gene pool a little (which a strain THAT refined will not do in the slightest).
