Breeding Hybrid Pet Sims in The Sims 2 (Blightgate - Corrupted Neighbourhood)

In this video I try to get my Human pet hybrid Sims to have children, and experiment with more gameplay involving the corrupted pets. I've also recreated the neighbourhood to include a bunch of supernatural/fantasy storylines and you can download that version or a blank version of the neighbourhood below:

also I guess when you say the sims seemed to have "disappeared somewhere" from the bin that they got put in the default household. then I guess some pets got shuffled around so that the humans incorrectly put in the default house then got pet info?

I can't believe you actually did it! I watched your video about the corruption (the second one) like three times in a row because it was so... freaky, lol. The thing about using the corruption as a plotline was awesome. I just want to ask, if I use it on my game, it will make it go crazy? Because it looks fascinating, I really want to try it out, hahaha

Thanks :) I'm pretty sure the effects are just limited to the neighbourhood (other neighbourhoods in my game seem to be fine and it seems to have been a result of something going wrong in generating the subhoods,) so it should be OK as long as you don't move Sims and lots etc from the corrupted neighbourhood to your other hoods but to be completely safe I would back stuff up first if you decide to download either version of the neighbourhood. Also if you already have a neighbourhood folder in your game called N004 it will replace that unless you change all the file names (so you also can't use both at the same time without changing the names either.) I was kind of lazy about doing that before uploading but there's a guide here in case: sims.fandom.com/wiki/Game_guide:Renaming_a_neighborhood%27s_folder

I recently been watching videos about sims 2 corruptions. I am actually doing so many things from the game that i never did before in the ultimate collection. But watching this videos made me worried about corrupting my own game, so i am trying to be careful. This videos (including yours) are interesting cuz they show what could happen in a corrupted game.

It seems like there are lots of things that can potentially cause issues in The Sims 2. I learnt of some things I didn't even know caused issues recently like saving while a Sim is on the phone. I think the reason this neighbourhood is so weird is because it was kind of broken from the start due to the sub neighbourhoods not generating properly and most of the families not showing up, but I didn't really notice for some reason since I hadn't played the game for a long time and then started playing again in 2020.

@@CalipersandTongs speaking of the phone. I think it happens if you save and them leave the lot and them you come back. I was actually playing and i accidentally saved while a sim was using the phone, but them i saved agaim when he stopped talking, so i hope i didn't break anything. Theres a list of things to not do in the sims wiki

There are actually so many Sims I created for this hood that haven't even made it into videos lol (well besides maybe appearing on community lots or in the background.) I feel a bit guilty about that sometimes, but I mostly just go with what fits the theme of the videos I'm working on. Many of the Sims are fairly normal to pad it out and some other occult Sims (I also made all the original Sims that were in the hood before I noticed the corruption downtownies, so they're around.) I got a bit carried away with it and kept inventing Sims, so it's almost like a Sims 3 sized town which is too many for rotational play really.

@@CalipersandTongs Huh, how many families do you think would fit best for a rotational playstyle? Since I'm making my own and haven't quite finished it yet.

Well I guess it depends on personal preference a bit but you also have to consider that as the Sims have kids the population and households will gradually increase over time. But I know when I've played with 5-7 households that's a pretty good amount for me. (Also I never played with the story progression mod and I guess you can have it set up so some households age etc with that mod while others don't.) Not long ago I combined Pleasantview and Strangetown and then I also added Bluewater since I wanted a shopping district, and then decided to play those households too because it felt weird having some not aging along. I really like the idea of multiple Maxis subhoods and I like having them all interact together, but it just ended up being too many households and then some were more interesting than others and I wanted to get back to those ones more quickly. I remember I was playing the Beaker household and Circe died from heatstroke while pregnant, and I decided I would have Loki become a warlock to resurrect her as a zombie but I finished their cycle before then and there were so many households left to go lol (even more than when I started due to some teens going off to uni.) Just having Strangetown and Pleasantview might have been OK though numbers wise, but then I like to have Dina end up with Malcolm in my game.

@@CalipersandTongs Yeah, that's a problem I run into sometimes: I love playing certain households more than others (Broke for Pleasantview, Curious for Strangetown (I always make Pascal and Nervous marry though) etc) and so I end up just stopping a playthrough because I don't want to continue with one of the households (I should redo Pleasantview so I can have Brandi end up with Malcolm, she and her kids deserve that break after all their suffering). It's hard for me to create a balance with unique characters for people to play instead of just the entire neighborhood being Knowledge Family and Fortune Sims since those are my favourite aspirations. I can do Popularity pretty well but I just cannot play Pleasure and ESPECIALLY Romance Sims.

It’s extra weird that John tricou and Jodie Larson are there bc John is obvs dead for one and from downtown and Jodie is from blue water village I think ? So they aren’t even stealth hood sims that got messed up it’s like the whole pet generation process in this hood is messed up and pulling random human sims.

Yeah it was basically all the subhood Sims that got messed up. The base game Sims seemed fine though. It hasn't happened again since that time so I still can't say 100% what happened. I've recently noticed some more of the deleted Sim bin Sims that have 'regenerated' (or I missed them before while looking.) Sharla Ottomas came by this one park but was acting like an adult (well I thought so but looking in SimPE now her age is listed as elder and as a service NPC of some kind.) Her NPC type is listed as 0x002F but not sure what that one is. It will be interesting to see if that was just me missing her before or if some of the other Ottomas family Sims and perhaps other Sims are still somewhere but not showing up for now (I would have assumed they'd have to be listed in the package file somewhere though if they still exist in some form. I can't see any of her other family members there.)

I believe with boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true you can spawn the tombstone of L&D to speed up Sim pregnancy.Though I'm not sure exactly if that would work with these weird, um, Sim hybrid... things. Probably not?

I did look through the tombstone of L&D and there weren't many options for those Sims (probably same for normal pets I guess.) I think I edited that part out of the video (there was a bunch of messing around I edited out lol.)

@@CalipersandTongs Ah, I see. I figured it would be super buggy or potentially unusable. Your neighborhood is intriguing and yet it scares me stiff into feeling like I need to back up my Sims 2 files every so often... I have sooo many mods (17,229 files / 6.17 GB of just nothing but downloads). I have no idea how my game is even still running, but it takes 7 minutes just to start up. But yes... after all these years of Simming, this is by far the craziest and weirdest glitch I've ever seen. Definitely keep on experimenting! Lol

14:52 after you aged up the second pet, and it created an error, the days until age up bar didnt reset back and it is completely filled, and says he's going to become an elder

oh they're part of the insimenator mod (you can download it as separate objects that do specific things as well as just the one. Helps a lot with testing things.) Also yeah I've kind of gotten used to it/accepted it with this neighbourhood now but when I first noticed the Humans acting like pets that you could adopt and realised what had been happening with some of the Sims who got stuck on the edge of my lots it was pretty disturbing lol.

Im just curious, speaking about Pet hybrids, is it possible to have a litter with a dog and a cat?

I haven't actually tried but I would assume it would be possible using SimPE if you made a Sim that looks like a cat but is set to behave like a dog or vice versa, but it wouldn't work with say two Human-pet hybrids like in this video because I don't think you can fine tune things at that level (and reproductively they would be considered one or the other,) but I'm not 100% sure since there's a lot I don't know about SimPE. Oh unless you mean a human-Pet hybrid with a normal dog or cat in which case yes that is possible. Though I decided not to make a video about that specific combination lol. Basically as long as the game recognises the Sim being in a certain reproductive category they can reproduce with others in the same species category. It's kind of complicated in ways I don't fully understand though like it seems setting it to one species behaviourally doesn't stop other Sims from continuing to have the interactions for a different species.

Do you have the sims 2 Ultimate collection? Or an older version that maybe hasn't the updates and thats why this happened? Just trying to guess how is this possible hahaha

Oh I have disc installations since I've had all the expansions since back in the 2000s (though I only have a couple of the stuff packs.) I do have a pirated version of Apartment Life because my CD copy got scratched at some point to the point where my USB dvd drive wouldn't read it. I kind of missed out on when they were giving the ultimate edition away for free a few years ago because I didn't realise. This problem has only happened with this hood so far and I think something just went wrong during the creation problem randomly since there were a bunch of Sims missing from the beginning I think but it took me a while to realise what had happened.

Sees the name "Tucker": lmao fair enough "The surname Tucker comes from an anime character" _Wait what that's way too fitting_ Also anyone who hasn't watched Fullmetal Alchemist, I greatly recommend it. I would recommend Brotherhood over the first anime because Brohood is more manga faithful and in my honest opinion the better version of the story. The Manga is the most complete version, but brotherhood is good too. Just be aware that the anime kinda starts really fast paces because it's trying to speedrun what was already covered in the first adaptation. Should be noted, some people recommend to watch the first adaptation up to a certain point and then picking up brohood like 12 episodes in, but I don't think that's a good idea. 03 knew from the start it would diverge from the manga and as such made changes to prepare for that early on, even as early as episode 1. Watching a hybrid as your first introduction to the series I honestly think would leave more questions than watching either version complete. So if you really want the "complete" version this hybrid is supposed to give, read the manga. If you're fine with the speedrun of the first 12 or so episodes, go for Brotherhood. The pace does slow down after that but it's still a good pace, never slows down to a halt to put focus on something pointless, and the only episode that could be considered "filler" is a recap of the story up to that point that even then features some interesting stuff and can function as a breather. Meanwhile 03... well, I can respect it as it's own thing but it just feels so slow to someone who's used to brotherhood. About half the series (like 25 episodes out of 52) is what was condenced into the first 10 or so episodes of brotherhood, and these 25 episodes had filler thrown in there too. Some anime original episodes set up things for the divergence, others just felt pointless and stretched out for runtime. And the real kicker is that Brotherhood is actually longer, at 64 episodes, and never once slows down to a slog.

Yeah I started watching the original Full Metal Alchemist I think? A very long time ago now, don't really remember it well and not sure how many episodes I watched. Never got around to watching Brotherhood but I did end up watching that part of the anime after my brother told me about it.

Very interesting experiment. I must admit though, that it was incredibly frustrating to watch you not know how to breed pets. (you direct the human sim to tell one of the pets to have a litter with the other, then they go to the pet bed by themselves)

To be fair I'm kind of seeking out examples lol, and before this neighbourhood corrupted I'd never had any issues with corruption for several years of playing it consistently back in the 2000s. I actually experienced more Sims 3 bugs I think, when I played that game more but yeah though you can avoid the broken stuff there is a lot lol.

@@CalipersandTongs you shouldn't be able to corrupt the neighborhood or game at all (at least not without any mods and definitely not without cheats) but apparently you can corrupt your neighborhood through normal gameplay if you don't avoid doing some specific things that's pretty broken

@@KeinNiemand That's actually recently been proven to be partially misinformation - the game handles things like sim deletion (which is generally believed to break things) better than most of us were taught to believe :)
