Do you plug your heat mat into a thermostat??
@livingwitharomanianrescuedog
Hi I know this is 5 years old , but I’m in the process of breeding locusts . How do you get a female locust because the majority of the locusts I buy online or in a shop are males

Hi what temperature should i keep them? As well can i use vermiculite as the general substrate?

The temperature on the hot side is 37C. I personally wouldn't use vermiculite, just in case the locusts decide to eat some. I use bran.

I just make them put up with the temperature that I like (15-20 C). Maybe that is why they rarely live more than two days.

But it’s better to keep them near a window with a clear tub I believe in a day and night cycle

I don't use any extra light, just the light which comes from the room. The day/night cycle is important.
