I never bleached my hair but I was able to achieve this color. I would get my hair colored platinum white every 4 months with keratin treatment. After the first time, my black hair turned dark brown. After the second, it turned to coppery brown. I would color at home with bremod very violet to combat the orange tones but I need to keep getting platinum white to lift the new black hair. It took me two years to get ashy results this way and I need to keep spending money at the salon to maintain it. If you don't have patience or money, the only way to get light ashy hair is bleach like she says.
