The lack of contemporary trap R&B drums isn’t the problem. The lack of drums in general & lack of song structure/songwriting is the problem. Brent has multiple styles when it comes to his record but he’s fallen to deep into that 2 to 5 min song with a lot of harmonies and build up that lead to no where or have a cool drop/music section with drums, more instruments and him harmonizing. A lot of Brent’s songs that don’t have drums or have little to no drums feel like a build up to nothing and that’s when it feels like something is missing or something could have been done better. When Brent does have those trap influenced drums in his music, it doesn’t even take away from the overall music. A lot of those new R&B records you’re probably referring to with the trap flavored drums can easily pass as a trap record if the vocalist was someone where as a lot of Brent’s music that do have those style of drums would still sound like an R&B record with a different vocalist because the music would push the the artist in that direction. Although the records without drums are super dope and can stand on their own, one of Brent’s biggest strength comes with records like Talk 2 U, Trust, Invite Me, Been Away. And most of these songs are on really short projects so the drum-less songs don’t really stand out in context to the entire project but on an hour long project with multiple skits and interludes, the drum-less/minimal drum songs can really drag out. For example, Price of Fame to Ghetto Gatsby to Wasting Time can feel weird cus Price of Fame is 2 songs in one but 1 song is split into 2 versions so it makes it 3 then we go into a dope record like Ghetto Gatsby that builds into what you believe is going to be a dope drop or something huge but it leads into an unnecessary Alicia Keys feature and then we go into Wasting Time and that song is a huge difference from the last 2, from the music to the drums and song structure.

Do you even listen to Brents music? Brent/Sonder never had the contemporary trap rnb sound. Yall just talking out your ass. These instrumentals are just weak.

It's no big deal, lesson learned for next time. Personally I was part of the minority that thought Wasting Time was dope on first listen.

No, the true problem with Wasting Time is that it was released at a bad time. That song had/has (if he can capture new fans with it since the albums release) song of the summer potential. Being released during a pandemic where the summer was partly opened but not really in comparison to this summer doomed that song from the beginning. That song is great and just was a victim of circumstances

The album is 1 hour long. A day has 24 hours. Supposing u didnt sleep for the past 24 hours Technically you only listened to the album 24 times already
