Summer Slam 90 - Best Match on that card was the 2 out of 3 falls match between Demolition & the Hart Foundation. One of my favorite tag team matches of all time. The flow of that match, it is hard to criticize it.

The thing with Bill and Barry is they were always for the match. It wasn't about them winning,. They wanted to the best match on the card whether they won or lost. They were really were professionals in that they wanted to deliver the best match for the fans. It's awesome to hear Bret give respect for them for that. Bret could've been negative or whatever, but he told the truth that Demolition's questions were about whether or it was the best for the fans or not. Demolition understood what sells is what gets you over.

I friggin loved Demolition, even more than LOD. Ax was my guy, and I loved the Masked Superstar anyway. When my cousin and I would be a tag team vs my 4 years older brother (who would "team" with himself lol, cuz ya know, older bigger, etc.), and we would pull teams/wrestlers out of a hat, when we got Demolition not only would I be so fired up, but I HAD to be Ax. I'd do his double ax handles so perfectly,,and his more subdued tongue stick out and yell/laugh (Smash was always more crazy with the yelling 😅).... Smash couldn't bring the speed and power of the double sledge beat down like Ax could 😅

Mine to. You could not go wrong with that match. It is definitely up there as a favorite of mine, with the classics the Midnight Express & the Rock N Roll Express had. Also Steiners vs Gordy/Williams, even though they didn’t have that many matches in WCW for too long, they were fun to watch.

What was great is Demolition started just after Wrestlemania 3 and the Hart Foundation were in the WWF just before wrestlemania 2. Both teams officially split up on the 2nd of May 1991 when they had their final match (against each other), they knew both teams were finishing, so requested to face each other, as a nice way to finish their run in these tag teams. They were replaced on the card by the Natural Disasters forming and the Beverly brothers coming in. Within a few months Bret Hart became intercontinental champion, the Anvil was teamed with Owen Hart. Smash became Repo Man, and Crush was turned face. 2 great teams.

One of the best tag matches ever was,the Rockers vs the Foundation on SME . Always considered the Rockers far superior to the Rock n Roll Express.
@TheTruth-pl3mk
@TheTruth-pl3mk 6 месяцев назад
Agreed. The Rockers basically took the idea of the Rock N Roll Express and improved it tenfold. Michaels was way more athletic than Ricky Morton and Jannetty definitely a better worker than Gibson. But I think also it depends on the territory; what the Rockers did worked well in the North and obviously the RNRE was loved in the Southern states.

For me, as a kid in the '80's, It was Hogan, then Demolition. In particular, Bill Eadie, aka AX. It's amazing to me that you have guys who've been inducted into the Hall of Fame twice, and Bill Eadie is not in it at all....Eadie could arguably be in it three times, for his work as The Masked Superstar, Super Machine and of course AX.
@TitleMatchWrestling
@TitleMatchWrestling 6 месяцев назад
You said it man. Bill Eadie deserves his spots at least 3x. I was too young to see it happen live but his work in the Mongols was great too
@jonathanturbide2232
@jonathanturbide2232 6 месяцев назад
It's not amazing to think he's not in the HOF, it's logic -- Bill lead the multimillion lawsuit against WWE several years ago, the one that got dismissed by a judge several times, so of course Vince won't be eager to induct a guy that basically wanted to scam him out of millions. Now with HHH in charge of the inductions they might go in this year, Hunter is the one who convinced Bruno and Warrior to come back for an induction, he might do it with Bill and Barry this year.
@Jonwood74
@Jonwood74 6 месяцев назад
@@jonathanturbide2232 Yeah, it's a joke. That's what logic tells me.... It has less to do with accomplishments, and more to do with being a gimmick...If it was based on the former, Bill would already be in. That's my point.
@jonathanturbide2232
@jonathanturbide2232 6 месяцев назад
@Jonwood74 Na, in this case we're talking about lawsuits and millions of $$$ - it goes well beyond pro wrestling and accomplishments in the ring, that's my point. There's no way any corporation or business owner out there would reward and honor someone suing them for millions, Eadie crossed a line he shouldn't have crossed and Vince had every reason to ignore him. Sucks for the fans and for Barry Darsow, but that's all on Eadie. Hopefully HHH will still find a way to induct them, I don't agree with what Eadie tried to do but hey Demolition being in the Hall is definitely a must.

I really hated Demolition's return to being a heel tag team. When they initially defected from Mr. Fuji that was such an epic parting, that getting him to manage them again was really a d*ck move. It was like saying: "We have always been in this for ourselves, and to hell with what the fans think". As a kid, I wasn't familiar with kayfabe, nor did I have any idea that Vince McMahon was pulling all the strings in the WWF.
@kurtvanderbogarde8402
@kurtvanderbogarde8402 6 месяцев назад
The trouble was that they had run out of credible heel opponents so they became the heels out of the three of them/ Harts/ Rockers, interfering in that tag team match on SNME to force a DDQ. Then when Crush came along, Adams had been working as heel American Ninja Bryan Adams in PNW so he was better at that point as a heel anyway. They had some wins over The Orient Express before WM6, Rhythm N Blues were not ready yet, the Colossal Connection had split up, so had the Powers of Pain and the Bolsheviks. They were flat out of heel opponents.
@kurtvanderbogarde8402
@kurtvanderbogarde8402 6 месяцев назад
The next trouble was fans continued to cheer for them so they had to go further with getting rid of the Cool elements of their personas, changing the music and crawling back to Fuji and for a while being masked, so that they could be foul creatures of the night (as was the original plan in 1987) rather than the Kool Krazy Killers fans saw them as by WM4. It might yet have worked, they could have had The Nasty Boys' spot and been tag champs a 4th time in 1991 from WM7 to Ss91 in between the Harts' and LOD.

@CatsClaw44
@CatsClaw44 6 месяцев назад
You do realize that Jim is right? For some reason people think going an hour is a "broadway". Going the time limit is a broadway. That's why you will hear wrestlers talk about 20 minute, 40 minute or 45 minute broadways. If you hear the ring announcer for example announce that this is a 30 minute time limit and the wrestlers go the full 30 minutes then it is a 30 minute broadway. And since the Harts/Demos matches were likely House Show main events and they were protecting both teams they probably went 15 to 20 minutes.
