Bret would have been awesome during the Attitude Era. Matches vs Kurt Angle and again with Rock, Triple H, Stone Cold etc. WCW were a joke. The arrival of Bret Hart should have pushed them way above the then WWE but they messed up so bad.

This raises so many questions about the time and place of Brett's career. He stopped the wwf from imploding but would he have even been given the chance to it if the company wasn't looking for a savior. And what if Brett had come up later and hadn't played that part. How would he have molded his character during and alternate timeline attitude era. Brett's promos were always so different from those that came before him and those that came after.

That alone makes Bret a Huge draw and WCW dropped the ball on that if he came in and took over HOGANs role as Babyface beating the NWO it woulda flipped Wrestling to a good guy vs bad guy sport agian. Instead we SAW fucking tweener DQ and Tweener Main events for the next 8 years :D across both brands.

I don't think it's fair to say Stone Cold was in his prime at WM13, He was gaining momentum as a heel sure, but the double turn made him even hotter and by the time we get to WM14, Austin was not only super popular, he was the freshest thing in the buisiness since the nWo. What doesn't add up is it being a work. Why would Vince develop the most talked about "angle" for the last 25 years, build a sympathetic Babyface out of his former world champion and then send him to wcw to prosper and continue the momentum? Obviously, wcw didnt continue the momentum because they were stupid and let politics destroy the company. Vince wouldn't have known that was going to happen though in 1997. He can't assume wcw would botch bret hart as bad as they did. You would have to assume anyone who isn't incompetent would get some value out of the best "angle" ever being served to them in a silver platter. It makes no sense for Vince to do that.. Heck, you might say that the plan worked for wwf in creating the Vince McMahon character. Look back though, Vince didn't know what he had there either. He was trying to come off as the good guy saying Bret screwed Bret and "the time honored tradition blah blah". He still wanted Bret but there was just no way he could do that. So, he panicked and feared losing Bret to wcw, offered 20 yr contract and then backed out.. So then, he goes from fearing losing Bret to offering Bret to wcw AND placing him in a super hot angle to plug into his competitors tv show? I'm sorry it just doesn't add up to me.
