Thank you so much out of all the videos I have watched since I got the Bambino Plus! This is the one that made so much sense.Thank you so much !!!God bless
I just started doing espresso shots and your videos have helped me, I also have the bambino plus and my shots have been 🤢 until today after watching this video. I went to local coffee house and had them grind the coffee to espresso for me.🎉😊
Great video! My only tip would be that pre-infusion should count towards your shot time window of 25-30 seconds. The bambino also has a delay of around 3 seconds from when the button is pushed so the timer should really start when you first hear the “brrrr” sound.
Thank you so much for your video 🥰 I just made the best shot I have done on my Bambino Plus 😋 I was getting so frustrated and now you have given me hope.
I’ve stopped using my bambino plus because I gave up on trying to dial on espresso! But your video is encouraging me to try again and continue learning ❤
Hello. I watched so many videos to learn about dose, yield and time. This morning I finally dialed my Starbucks beans at a 6 and it was almost perfect (I didn't have the dose right). I wish I had found you first. It would have saved me days!!!! Thank you. I did order a naked portafilter yesterday. I'm excited for it to come.
Thanks for this video! There are tons are videos regarding the Bambino but yours was among the most useful that I found. Will use it to tune in my new Bambino. Thanks again.
I've finally gotten the machine and grinder myself and I found this video very helpful. The manual and website suggested starting as high as grindsize 11 and to fine-tune it from there, but the reality was that you'd end up with way too much liquid within the given timeframe. So I was worried there was some big secret I had not yet found out about, but then I tried your suggested grindsizes and not only did the amount of liquid look so much more to what it should be, but also when comparing flavours (I had kept the old one I made to compare) were so much different. I haven't been drinking coffee for long, but now I finally understood what watery coffee meant and what I should be looking for. For me everything tasted bitter, but when comparing both I finally started tasting the various elements on my tongue. Now I finally have a starting point of where to start dialing in, I think it would've taken me forever if I had stuck to the manual instructions. So thank you for this video, it is really on point and I found all the tips very helpful, I even got the cup with the handle you have and I love it!
Yayyy! I was hoping you did an updated version of your bambino plus review since I recently got my bambino plus in sea salt and I love it! I've been playing around with it everyday since I put everything together last week. I also got the smart grinder pro in sea salt and I finally dialed it in with my fresh roasted beans from my local coffee shop. I too put the entire bag of beans into the hopper. It makes more sense that way so now all I have to do is press start and I get my 18 gram dose. One thing I must say I have been reprogramming my bambino plus everyday because I stop it at 36-38 grams of espresso and then when I go to make the next shot the bambino doesn't give me the same amount of water (espresso) that I programmed it to which is frustrating so I'm thinking of resetting it back to the factory settings and manually stopping it at my correct output weight. I would have to weigh my shot every time I make espresso which is fine I guess. Does that happen to you with your bambino plus? Also I wanted to let you know that the bambino plus does comes with 4 baskets now. I heard in the past it only used to come with 2. Single shot and double shot dual wall pressurized baskets. Now it comes with single shot and double shot single wall non pressurized and dual wall pressurized baskets. The dual wall pressurized baskets is the training wheels one not the portafilter it comes with. The portafilter that comes with the bambino can be used like a regular portafilter but it has plastic in it which doesn't seem to come out easily so I rather use my bottomless portafilter that I got from crema coffee. Anyway I recently found your channel and I hope you do more videos with your bambino plus showing different lattes you can make with it! I just made a French toast latte earlier and it came out sooo good :P
Thank you for walking us through this! You taught me all about my nespresso and later this year I want to but a new machine and learn this process. Please do more of these videos!
Thank you so much for this guide! I was lost as to why I was getting soupy pucks with this machine, and was starting to get disappointed with the machine. Now I can try your method out, hope for the best!
Love this video!! Also I had to laugh so hard when you said "it's just bean water" 🤣. I also think the same, if it tastes good, when who cares that it's not exactly following "the rules" lol👏
i've recently found your videos alex and binge watched them all! i haven't dealt with specialty coffee (as i'm using nespresso) but i enjoy watching every minute of the process and learning about it
Love this! Definitely didn't confuse me more LOL! And I'm definitely not a coffee snob! Would love to see more of these I have a Bambino and my fav fav is pour over extra strong lol💖🖤☕🖤💖
Okay, finally back with another comment! Because I am pretty sure some people will wonder the same thing I just found out about when attempting to dial in. So yes, all steps int he video are correct, but for some reason I felt like I was missing something because my pour times were just not good (too fast all the time) despite going finer and finer on the grind, hitting the lowest grind level on the grinder even! So I read the following: inside the grinder there is a SECOND manual setting to your grind level!! I did not know this, but when you take out the center piece and remove the handle you have a wheel you can twist which is factory-wise set on level 6, but if you change this to perhaps something between 1-4 then it will adjust your pour times drastically!! Drastic enough for me that I am now finally pouring the right amount of coffee within the right amount of time of 25-30 seconds! Why am I dropping this as a comment? Because if you feel things are still not right, or if you feel like you can improve despite doing everything mentioned then this will certainly help! My espressos are finally coming out with the right amount of creaminess as one would expect and now I am finally starting to understand how to properly dial in beans!
Thank you! I personally didn’t mention this because I’ve never needed to mess with the inner burr. I feel like I’ve tried a variety of beans and never needed to do that but glad it worked for you! Thanks for leaving that extra info here for someone to benefit!
This was very helpful! I have the exact set as well! Curious tho if the 18 g is still the right amount for the original ports filter that comes with the machine? Thanks!
Thank you, your video helped me the most! I got the same tamper as you - I use the heaviest spring and my shot still pours too quickly but it pours fine when I use the tamper the machine came with. The issue is, I wasn’t tamping consistently. Any tips on how to make the normecore tamper work?
I’ve never had an issue with tamping with it. Are you making sure to tamp with the 30lb spring? It’s pretty consistent in its own since it’s calibrated
@@_AlexmojicaThanks for the reply! I am using the thickest spring but the shot still pours too quickly. Maybe I need to make the grind size finer. I have the same grinder and machine as you, I’ve been grinding the current beans I have on 8.
I'm a coffee snob, but dang, I can't dial this machine in to save my life! I have a Niche Zero grinder and I think it needs to be cleaned after months of dark roasts. I get crazy channeling with the naked portafilter as seen thru the Shot Nanny mirror with bitter espresso. Ugh. I'll try your tips and clean my grinder! I have the Normcore tamper and it's awesome!
@@_Alexmojica I have a WDT, but it's not fine needles like yours. I'm gonna try it without the lame WDT I have tomorrow and see if that's causing it. It's so bad. If it works without the WDT I'll get a better one.
This was informative for me, great video! Eventually I do wanna get into espresso. My friends like to have espresso (via Nespresso) when we are drinking, so my question would be is it possible to make espresso tipsy? 😂 Funny enough I can cook tipsy, but I think the whole preciseness would go out the door when drinking lol. What do you think about starting off with the tools from the machine and learn to dial in with that, then when feeling more confident get the more pro tools? Than you for all your vids!
I just recently got the Bambino (not plus) and this video was SUPER! helpful and easy to understand. Thank you. Do you know if I'd be able to fit the 58mm portafilter in my machine? I can't seem to figure out the clear answer.
Can you please do a video comparing the new Nespresso golden caramel and sweet vanilla pods to the old caramel cookie and vanilla custard pie pods? Seeing how different they are and if the new ones are worth getting or better than the originals
Just found your channel! I love your setup! I just got the barista pro and have been messing around trying to dial in my beans. Where is your coffee knock box from?! Is it stoneware??
Hello? What basket are you using? The one that comes with the Breville? Wondering because I have the normcore tamper and because of the ridge on the basket, the tamper doesn’t go all the way in.
Hey Alex, I see you are using the Acaia Pearl scale. Do you like it and do you think it is worth the price? I have a cheaper food scale that cost $20, but I’m not that crazy about it. Also I like the fact that the Acaia has both weight and timer on it. I always like your recommendations. I also love this video. You are definitely not a coffee snob, which I like. You make it so much easier. Thank you.
I am going to buy the Breville smart grinder but won't be doing espresso right away. I just want my beans ground for my reusable K-Cup for my Keurig coffeemaker. I had purchased an espressione burr mill grinder and oily beans would not get down from the hopper to be ground and the 10 cup setting never ground more than a 3rd of the out cup. The Breville I hope will be a perfect replacement for my old Cuisinart mill which ground good, but was getting old. I like tech so the Breville smart grinder will be nice though the Cuisinart was $48 and the Breville smart grinder is $200! Ouch.
Hi I have a regular bambino with the same grinder but the shot doesn’t come out if the grind isn’t 11 or higher. I was wondering if you changed the inner burr grind setting at all or if your is on it’s standard setting.I may have to get a different wdt tool cause mine has 4 prongs and looks a little thicker.
I haven’t changed the inner burr. Sometime you old beans or stale beans may be the issue. If you don’t know when they were roasted then most likely you’ll have a difficult time with them. They have to be fresh
Hi am a new Bambino owner...Am a bit confused of the extracted amount... 18 gm of coffee is 2 shot and should extract 60 ml (g)of expresso..But youre extracting only 34 ml of expresso?
Have you used Starbucks Espresso Roast? If so, what was your ideal grind size? I have a Breville machine with a grinder, and it might help me to know a good starting point.
Alex, I ordered Alto capsules thinking I could use them in the Plus machine, do you know anyone who would want them? I can send them to you. I have two sleeves.
If you want to program the shots you have to stop the extraction at some point. And I start the timer at first drop. It just works for me and my palette. You do you though
