Breville basket VS IMS basket, is it worth upgrading to a precision filter basket? Here's the result Music: Sail Musician: Lunata URL: icons8.com/music
Great video 🙌Thanks for sharing. What portafilter are ypu using? I read online that some models may break the mount in time if the 3 ears are not made exactly (thickness etc) like the original breville.
Consider that some folks in ‘competitive’ coffee (what?) are moving back toward baskets that can help induce a bit of pressure, that can resist flow somewhat to help ensure all grinds get saturated/extracted. The basket provided with your Breville already does that!
Check this what does a precision basket means. Btw, some machine have the IMS already as default like Lelit. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-58WWDyZjXVM.html
@@bluemystic7501 my experience with Breville stock and IMS baskets is different using a Breville machine. It is not the same. With IMS basket, you need to grind finer. This means more coffee grounds surface are expose resulting to more and better extraction.
Could you tell the difference in taste between using the DF64 and the built in grinder that comes with the Pro? Is it a difference you could pick out repeatedly in a blind taste test?? Did the change in portafilter basket create a change in taste of a similar magnitude??
If you have been an espresso drinker for long, surely you will know the big difference with a conical burr (Breville) and a flat burr grinder (DF64). Also the secret for a great tasting espresso is not really in the espresso machine, it's in the grinder and the quality of your freshly roasted beans. I'm not really an expert in tasting but I already knew that a quality grind and the quality of extraction (using the precision basket) will give me a quality tasting espresso. Hope that helps. Cheers!
What’s the timing of your shot. I know the Breville has a bit of “pre infusion” so does your extraction time start at the push of the button, or once coffee starts to hit your cup?
Thanks man, I just trialed the IMS basket this morning and found it to be quite larger than the breville double shot. Will keep experimenting and grinding finer
When you grinded finer to get the shot in 32 seconds, how did the shot taste compared to when it extracted in 21 seconds? was it more sour or less sour?
Standard extraction time is between 25 to 30secs. Ideally closer to 30secs which is usually common recipe in a cafe. Less than 25, sour and weak. More than 35secs you will find it too bitter. Extraction time starts from pressing the button or when the coffee puck start to sature with hot water (really depends on what machine, may varies).
I have an offbrand precision filter basket and struggling a bit. I am using 18g, though it yield 36g around 30 seconds, the shot is a bit sour and quite drippy during extraction. wondering if I should increase the dose or grind finer.
If sour, increase the brewimg temperature. If still sour, it is the beans. Avoid those with berry or fruity notes/desc. Look for a darker roast beans or with for nutty, choco notes. And freshly rosted beans.
Hello, do you know anything about the pesado/ims 54mm? I have a brevile infuser bes840, but I’m not sure if the ims precision is compatible. The pesado keeps coming up on Google
A bit pricey but the quality of their beans is great. This is their flagship blend, also the one they used in their coffee shop. It is neither too acidic or bitter (balance).
Have you got any comparisons of what the original portafilter would have extracted. Or is that because you can see how it extracts you are able to adjust it better. As a new owner of a bambino I'm just trying to figure out whether I need it yet or I should start with the original equipment and purchase the IMS once I know what I'm doing
@@shabba12345not a pro here. If you want to upgrade your grinder, think of a flat burr to replace your conical burr grinder. And larger burr if you can afford. Grinder can give you more control. But the key is not too force an update when you are satisfied with your drink
For the 2 shots, both are IMS basket. I'm dialing-in or calibrating for IMS basket (repeat until I find the correct grind size). The second shot is the ideal grind size.
I noticed that a normal 50.8/51mm tamper doesn't fit/press well the powder in my IMS 51mm basket. Anyone with the same problem? It just press on the surface, while the bottom coffee remain not pressed.
Bottomless will help you troubleshoot your shot for chanelling (mess). Also it is easy to clean. Pressurized basket is used for pre-ground coffee or stale coffee beans or if you are beginners.
