I hardly ever leave RU-vid comments but your ingenious (and simple) approach saved me from doing a LOT of work. Thank you for taking the time for posting this out there for all to see!!
And to think I tossed my first Breville oven for this simple fix. But when it happened to my replacement oven, I just dealt with it. What a great fix -- thanks for posting!
You are life saver!! I was about to try and take all the screws out and then all that jazz. I watched the other videos then I came to yours and I said yeah my brother might have a point there why not try it first? After about four tries amazing it worked you made this lady so happy I had tons of stuff to do this week in it to get ready for a little road trip to my grandkids and you solved my major headache 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 bless you!
Thank you! I was going to take mine apart. The bracket on ours was bent the other way and was catching on the right side of the slot, but that was exactly where the problem was. It's so helpful to know where to look.
Great quick fix! Thanks for posting. On ours, not closing had nothing to do with heat. Someone using the door to pull the oven from under the cabinets is what did it.
Thanks for the info. I pulled it apart and managed to modify the electric micro switch tang, as well as the hinge guide that hits the micro switch. I found that no matter how much I bent the tang, the switch would not stay engaged. I figured out that I could drill a hole in the metal hinge guide and install a small metal screw it could keep the micro switch tang engaged when it was shut. Wouldn’t you know, it worked. 🤜
I was so hoping your fix would work for my Breville...2nd one this has happened to. I have the same model as you but my hinge is very hard to budge, so much so that it hurt my fingers & left indentations on them after trying to adjust it. My fan sounds like a helicopter at times & other times its a little less loud. I’m thinking since I’m on my 2nd Breville (awaiting my 3rd), that these are a waste of money & time. When I returned the 1st oven with the faulty door (hinge) within the warranty time, the rep stated they’d send me a brand new oven that would have a new warranty on it. I took the reps name & call center location (for my records), confirmed that the new oven they were sending would positively have a brand new warranty, to which he said definitely. 2nd oven, same problem on the 2 year mark of the warranty. I called customer service & I was told the first rep shouldn’t have told me the warranty would be new on the replacement unit. I told her whom I spoke with and his location & she said they have no way to track that info. Are there no notes in Brevilles computer? She found the unit serial # of the unit they sent me, yet no record of who I spoke with that misinformed me. Very very frustrating! Finally she said she’d send me a return label & after receiving the oven, they’d send out another one when they got them back in stock. I don’t know about Breville... I have 11 Breville appliances in my kitchen & I’m thinking I may be done with them. Just about every Breville appliance I own has some problem that developed about the time the warranty is up & customer service has made me feel like a criminal trying to get them to honor their warranties. I might go back to Cuisinart for small appliances.
Sorry it didn't work. I saw one video where the guy took the unit apart and replaced a broken spring I think but it was way too much work for something under warranty. Glad Breville was able to help you out. I'm going to have to contact them as well, my fan sounds like it's about to take off.
Careful ! the right angle metal is not that strong so if it does not fix at the first bend, STOP and take the cover off. Taking cover off to see what you are doing is way easier than you think. This fix only worked once for me. Then had to tale cover off
All anyone tells you is "buy a new one!" Well, mine works fine except for door only closing 7/8ths of the way. Thanks. I remember the days of "fix it" shops. Never to return...
I use to be one of those fix it guys. I worked at the Sears Service Center on TV’s and VCR’s. Now they tell you TV’s are disposable because they buy parts from the cheapest vendor and they don’t know where the replacement part should come from or even if they still make it.
Sorry just seeing this. The tray has an indent ion for your fingers to get under and it just slides forward on the smart oven air. I bought some silicon baking mats that we keep in there to catch all the trash. It makes it easier to keep that tray clean.
You'd think for $400 dollars, they'd make that durable! I just bought mine 3 weeks ago, I think I've used it 5 times, and just happened today for no reason. Ridiculous.
Left side bottom hinge on the door. Push it just a little until it is lined up to go straight into the oven. Also make sure there is no food in the track.
Mine does that as well. It needs a good cleaning. I have black marks on the side of the door where the smoke comes out. I notice it’s not so bad when I clean the air fryer basket/pan combo I got from Walmart. Grease collects in the bottom of it and smokes like crazy. I also have a silicon mat on the bottom drawer that makes keeping that clean a lot easier.
@@BigCedW Thank you. I bought mine from Best Buy. I am not very happy with the quality of this product. For the price the customer experience should be much better. I had the previous model for years (no air-fryier) that one works great. Ex-wife took it :(
There is another video out there that walks you through taking the unit apart and replacing the hinge I believe. Something else I found is that the track can get trash in it that can be cleaned out with a knife. Good Luck with it.
