It was definitely a very happy/sad day. Good news is, Nrevin is loving his mission and the life experience it is bringing him.

I’m wondering if he is going to outgrow that suit in the next two years.

The decision to serve is probably different for everyone, but the religious practice of teaching the gospel to other “nations” is a pattern established by Jesus Christ as he prepared his disciples to go and do the same.

He is temporarily reassigned to Boston until his visa application comes through. We are not sure how long that will take. In the meantime, there is a population of Portuguese speaking people in Massachusetts, so Brevin will be able to still work on learning the language.

If he decided to come home before then or if there were other unforeseen circumstances to arise, then yes. He would be allowed to come home.

They will almost be unrecognizable when he gets home. They are both at the age of rapid growth and change in a matter of a year.

Yup. I agree completely. There is one thing where you could be religious and go to church, but when it become your identity, something is wrong. I'm not mormon, but I know that they just go to other states or countries to try to endoctrinate more people in the church.. He could have gone to college instead.

@@cindyknows9220 Yeah and I'm all for religious freedom but this just feels like something else. I don't know if there are mormons here in Sweden where I'm from but we do have a pretty large community of Jehovas witnesses that pretty much do the same thing and most people hate them and think they're annoying. It's pretty sad in a way but some of them just don't take no for an answer. If you choose to live like that it's fine by me but when it's forced upon you it's just wrong. So many cases of people getting pushed away because they want to leave that life behind too :(

I am not a Mormon but it’s a service to others project one that would be beneficial to you all. It takes one out of their selfishness in an effort to help others.

@@shirrepoffer I'm going to try to explain, first going on a mission is a big decision, when the children decide they WANT to serve they start saving up their money over the years. Serving a Mission for Heavenly Father is a privilege for these young people, they don't consider it a "waste" of their time. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any religion for that matter is not a "loss of identity", it's finding your identity! If anyone is a believer in Heavenly Father and Christ, you consider yourself a Child of God, it is your identity, they are in your DNA! There is no "indoctrination" of people, they are taught the lessons and asked to pray to find the truth for themselves, we are given Free Agency on this earth. I read on here one Mama preparing to send her son off to the Marines, he going to serve his country, his free will try sacrifice those years for us. Brevin is going to serve God for two years, he will then come home and still go to College. Missionaries serve all over the world and yes we have members and Missionaries in Sweden, you are welcome to look them up in your area if you have many questions. Missionaries also do service projects in their areas as needed for members and nonmembers. I hope this answered your questions!

You are right. The longest he has been away from home has been no more than a week. It will be an adjustment for all of us, that’s for sure!

They don’t really see each other much at all since she is at a different school. Occasionally I will run into her or (or a member of her family) around town, but it’s not very often.

It is not a requirement, but Brevin has been planning to serve a mission for quite some time.

If they overlap missions it could be four years before they see each other again. I don’t think it’s likely, though. Spencer can give his date of availability as a time after Brevin gets home. I think he will probably try and do that.

It’s very likely he will. Jason looked exactly the same when he was 19-tall and very lean. I think we will see Brevin grow in more ways than one over the next year.

He not going to Brazil yet. He going to Boston because of pandemic and then Brazil.

Those are very valid concerns, and the church takes them quite seriously. Brevin has been reassigned to Boston until he receives his visa and it is determined to be safe for him to go. Also, no missionary will be allowed out of the U.S. if they are not fully vaccinated.
