Brevnov Monastery was founded by Saint Adalbert and is still inhabited with benedictine monks. On the grounds there is a St.Marketa basilica, very nice monastery gardens, Hotel Adalbert, Monastery tavern and brewery, art gallery etc.
The complex was thoroughly repaired from 1991 until its 1000-years-jubilee in 1993. In 1997 it was visited by Pope John Paul II and was elevated to the rank of an Archabbey. In 2009-2013 the garden underwent an extensive reconstruction including the Orangerie where is now an art gallery and Vojteska pavillon with the source of the Brusnice stream. The entrance to the complex including the garden is free, during weekend there are guided tours in the basilica, crypt and the prelature.
