If the jar is big enough to make a big enough batch, then yes. As a matter of fact if you tighten the lid totally, and then immediately loosen it to the point that air can escape, the fermentation will produce enough CO2 that it will expel oxygen and keep purging it from the ferment vessel as it ferments. I however, wouldn't waste time with a batch less than 20 liters or 5 gallons. But you do you.
@@davidjennings1256 it's best practice to sanitize EVERYTHING that touches the wort after the boiling process. For the spoon, bucket, equipment-- use a food-grade sanitizer like StarSan. For the chilling water, boil for about 10 minutes, then cover and chill.
