Malt, water, hops, and yeast, the four most common building blocks of beer. Combined, these ingredients create the third most popular drink in the world just after water and tea. Beer is a beverage as old as history itself, yet it's still being refined and perfected by craft brewers across the globe.
The folks at O.H.S.O., the Outrageous Homebrewer's Social Outpost, love sharing their passion and expertise with beer enthusiasts of all levels. Whether you're new to craft beer or an avid homebrewer, you'll fit right in.

Hops are the flowers of the hop plant Humulus lupulus, a member of the Cannabaceae family of flowering plants. They are commonly used as a bittering, flavoring, and stability ingredient in beer, in which, they impart floral, fruity, or citrus flavors and aromas.

Craft beer brewing is an art and a science. As with any art, there are trends that come and go. But one trend that seems to be here to stay is the use of wet hops in beer brewing. Wet hops are hops that are picked and used within 24 hours. This gives the hops a more intense flavor and aroma. And since wet hops are perishable, they must be used within a short window of time. Another popular trend in craft beer brewing is barrel aging. Barrel aging is when beer is aged in wooden barrels, which can impart different flavors to the beer. In this blog post, we will explore wet hop beer brewing and barrel aging. We will discuss the benefits of using wet hops and how to properly use them in your brewing process. We will also explore the different flavors that can be imparted by barrel aging and how to choose the right barrels for your beer.
What is Wet Hop Beer?
Wet hop beer is brewed with fresh hops that have been picked and used within 24 hours. This process allows the hops to retain more of their original flavor and aroma. Wet hop beers are typically more fruity and citrusy than their dry-hopped counterparts.
Barrel aging wet hop beer can further enhance the flavor and aroma of the hops. The beer is often aged in used wine barrels, which imparts a subtle oak flavor to the beer. Wet hop beers that are barrel aged often have a more complex flavor profile, with layers of fruit, citrus, and oak flavors.
History of Beer
Beer has been around since the dawn of civilization and is one of the oldest beverages in the world. The first recorded recipe for beer was found in Mesopotamia and dates back to 4000 BC. Beer was an important part of Sumerian culture and was used in religious ceremonies.
The Egyptians were also early adopters of beer brewing, and it quickly became a staple in their society. Egyptian brewers even created a special type of yeast that is still used by brewers today. Beer was so important to the Egyptians that they even used it as currency!
In medieval Europe, beer was brewed by monasteries and convents as a way to provide income. At this time, hops were not yet used in brewing, so beers were often quite sweet. Hops began to be used in the 15th century, which resulted in the creation of the modern IPA style.
Beer arrived in America with the first settlers and quickly became popular. George Washington even had his own brew house at Mount Vernon. In the 19th century, lagers became popular due to German immigrants bringing over this style of beer brewing. The American craft beer revolution began in the 1970s with pioneers like Fritz Maytag of Anchor Brewing Company. Today, there are over 7,000 craft breweries in America!

I could easily sit through a movie length feature by Paragraphic. No cgi or big names needed. This channels content is incredibly addictive in how smooth it flows, how genuine and unique the people involved are, and how real and relatable it's topics are.

Cryogenic frozen hops is the new game. Nothing beats live resin and Bubblestash IPA in oregon, IMHO. Not even Bell's.

When I grow my marijuana.(Medically) there is a moist, sticky smelly, great-tasting stage about 5 weeks after harvest. Properly cured is also vital.
@dertythegrower
@dertythegrower 2 года назад
@@jessmason2112 Not even close. Research fresh frozen live resin and HTFSE extractioneering. They apply this to fresh frozen hops now, just like Bubblestash now in the IPA industry (bought out by Coors it was so good). Also I am cultivator for a few top companies, believe me live resin tastes better, ive smoked many dabs my friend ha. I have been paid literally to test strains. Try Fresh Squeezed IPA sold in any major retailer now across the country.

@@jessmason2112 also, scope out n2pack, its why Lay's and many top growers like Scott Reach use n2pack canning which seals the flower in nitrogen (Lay's potato chip bag is not air, thats nitrogen also)

College education in brewing is if you want to work for a Budweiser, which requires scientific precision. If you just want to make beer for craft brewers, a college education in brewing is not necessary.

@@PARAGRAPHIC The production quality on your vids is amazing. Even more impressive knowing that it's a smaller team. Easily one of the best channels on RU-vid. Would love to be part of PARAGRAPHIC one day, but probably need more experience. Any idea of where to start?
@PARAGRAPHIC
@PARAGRAPHIC 2 года назад
Best way to learn is from experience and then problem solving. So do as much as you can either paid or just for fun, bump into tons of problems, and then you know what you need to learn and get better at. RU-vid has tons and tons of tutorials and advice but it’s hard to focus on where to begin unless you know what your issues are.
