Help with the Control Panel! I completed my first batch but had problems with the control panel. Could you please do a video on how the Control Panel works? Love this channel, BTW!
pro tip .. use a hop spider and put the tube in it at beginning of boil with the pump running , you catch a ton of loose grain and hops that would otherwise end up as gunk at bottom
thanks- took a lot of anxiety away putting this together with you- next will be the brewing - first is always the hardest but in time will be fine tuning ! :)
Happy to help! If you're looking for a brew day video showing all of the steps we have one here. It goes over the gen3 and gen4 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vSygE03IxcA.html
Fantastic video. I was extraordinarily confused when my unit came without an instruction manual. After finding the "official" manual online, I quickly realized that it's... not very comprehensive. At all. Your step-by-step is absolutely perfect. Thanks!
Good video. I had a few questions about assembly that were completely answered. Bonus material on brewing overview covered a few items I hadn't thought of. I have been brewing on a propane burner for years, looking forward to using for the first time this weekend.
Great video for a newbie like me. You got me through the hard part, my only recommendation would be if you showed parts of an actual brew since I'm wondering how the plate over the grain bed will function and also how the controls operate.
Great, great video! I'm using my unit in a couple of days later and this video has been all I needed to know the general use and some details to have in mind too. Thanks a lot and cheers from Chile.
Great video Paul. I have over 12 5 Gallon batches on my BrewZilla 3.1 that I purchased 9 months ago from Grain to Glass it is holding up great! Going to take it completely apart on year one for a very in-depth cleaning and resealing of the fittings. Paul also got me hooked on the fermzilla's and I purchased two and rigged up temperature control the combo makes for perfectly consistent batches.
Very informative, thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm looking at buying a Brewzilla but want to know how my brew day will look beforehand.
Thank you very much, I am assembling it now and the instructions I found online are inadequate. You your video is so helpful and completes my assembly and gives me ideas about the brewing process with this system. I want to know how long do you sparge for?
Interesting, I purchased one 08/24/2021 and it did not come with the fine bottom screen. Looking forward to giving it a go this weekend. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for this video, I just put mine together following your instructions, the only problem I have is one of the lid handles is faulty and doesn't fit, but there's no instructions that can fix that!
What's wrong with those Robobrew people to make an expensive product and not provide a manual. Love your video. I think you should come up with a little hang-on basket that fits onto some of the external bits, maybe the bottom of the pump, to put the overflow valve and the pipe blocker .... I can see those getting lost real fast. Another place to put your logo and URL on.
Update (April 2021): I just unboxed a new 3.1.1, and it did not come with two lower screens - only the one with the threads. The fine-mesh screen was not included. And it sounds like it isn't that useful anyway, since there are lots of videos that say using both screens causes clogging.
Shouldn't you only put the false bottom in for the boil? Otherwise wouldn't recirculation not work correctly? i.e. grains that get past the grain pipe's filter could get stuck above the false bottom instead of beign recirced back to the top of the mash. And then those would stay in the boil and boiling grains is meant to be bad.
Very informative video. Can you elaborate on what improvements were made to this 3.1.1? I didn’t notice anything different from my 3.1, I assume it’s something in the control programming.
I honestly couldn't find anything other than improved circuit board when I tried to research the differences. At some point I will take apart the 3.1 and 3.1.1 to see if I can spot any internal differences.
@@graintoglass They added an alteration to the programming: there's now *two* "AUTO" modes. One starts the next step's timer immediately upon finishing each programmed step. The other AUTO mode waits until the next step's set temperature has been achieved and THEN starts the timer. I only know this 'cause I saw a review of the v3 (not the 3.1.1) and the reviewer specifically complained about a lack of a preheat version of the timers. Apparently one of the designers eventually saw the review. Haha.
Thanks for instructions. I just bought the system yesterday. I noticed that i didnt have the same mesh screens in the grain basket that you show in the video. These are thicker and stainless steel color. Is this what the new models are shipping with?
@@T_Mo271 my local brewstore said apparently they are shipping them without them. They said they had reached out to the company and are waiting for confirmation.
Great video. First go with my Brewzilla now. Sparging seems to be taking a long time. Maybe my grain is crushed too fine and blocking the bottom plate somewhat?
Hey, if you are using the fine mesh screen I would recommend not using it. Otherwise grain crush might be to fine or if your recipe had a lot of flakes or wheat malt it tends to cause issues. Using a couple hand fulls of rice hulls next time should help. Cheers!
I'm looking at ditching my propane set up for this. My question, can you really plug this into any outlet? Or do I need to make sure it's on a circuit where not much else is going too? I plan to run this in the garage, maybe a light or 2 on but that's about it. If I wanted to run it in the house, would I run into issues if it's on the same circuit as say, a fridge, or a TV and sound system? Also, could you just have the mash pipe installed while you heat up your mash water? Why heat it up, THEN put it in?
It draws give or take 1500 watts so it will depend on what else is plugged into that circuit. I have yet to run into any issues and I've plugged it in various outlets inside and outside of my house. I leave the mash pipe in the Brewzilla while it heats up.
I have no experience with any all in one electric brew system, but I'm wondering if it is possible to ferment in the brewzilla or other electric all in one systems? If how?
The Grainfather has a very good 3 year warranty, bluetooth connection and a counterflow chiller. Other than that they are the same and I find both make equally good beer. Cheers
Sparge water will vary based on amount of grain and batch size. Use a calculator like the one in Brewfather to calculate mash and sparge volumes. On the chiller for the cold water in I have 1/2" tubing connected with a hose clamp that goes to a garden hose fitting and for the hot water out I use high temperature silicon tubing. Cheers
I am getting E3 error. The machine doesn’t start. I filled up my brew zilla with 20+ litres of water. Waited for half hour. But still doesn’t start. Any trouble shooting ideas. ?
Hello, according to the manual: E3 error: This indicates the boil dry protection has been triggered. This can be triggered for several reasons including: If the BrewZilla has been operated when it has not been filled at least to the minimum liquid fill line. If this happens it will trigger the boil dry error. Please make sure the BrewZilla is always filled to at least the minim fill line. The pump has pumped the boiler dry. For instance if you block off the overflow tube that allows excess liquid to return to the boiler this can result in pumping all the liquid into the malt pipe and then the liquid level in the boiler will be too low and cause this error to occur. Always make sure to have enough liquid in the BrewZilla so even when the pump has pumped liquid into your malt pipe you still have enough in the bottom of the boiler to ensure the boil dry protection has not been triggered. Solids in the boiler such as excessive hops, sugars or other solids. For instance if you pour a kg of sugar into the boiler all at once this will cover the element and act like a blanket. This will allow the element to reach temperatures that are above boiling point and this will result in triggering the boil dry protection. The same thing can happen when excessive hops, and other solids sit and cover up the element. This error may also indicate that a wire may have come loose from a terminal, a wire is connected to the incorrect terminal or the main circuit board/LCD are malfunctioning. I've also heard of many people fixing this error by replacing the circuit board or both circuit board and lcd screen. Just make sure that both are version 3.1.1
You mention gallons, as a Canadian I have no idea what you mean or what gallon. Please refer to litres as they are universally understood without ambiguity. The same to Fahrenheit, have not used that for over 40 years and find it meaningless.
Mate, get an online converter if you can’t do it yourself. He didn’t do this vid just for you. I live in a metric world too and just appreciate what he’s done. Really, it ain’t that hard.
