I watched this movie fairly recently. Benedict again shines in his role, & there were a lot that went on that I wasn't aware of. I guess I'm not the only one. The movie is definitely worth a watch, even if you just want to know what really happened. 😮❤

The book 'Propaganda: A Formation of Men' Attitudes' by Jacques Ellul is a really good read. Both sides were probably subjected to intense levels of propaganda and in fact it is sometimes very difficult to distinguish between art, information and propaganda.

The problem is not so much with the script but the casting of people who look like they've gone to a fancy dress party dressed as Boris and Gove. It's very difficult to pull off drama about real, well known, current figures. I thought The Queen managed it but I struggle to think of other examples. The Iron Lady, about Maggie, and W, about George W Bush, are two that didn't.

I saw this, I thought it was interesting and did well at dramatising a very complicated event, in particular how Facebook was used to target the public with emotional propaganda created and operated by AI whose sole job was to mislead the easily manipulated masses who were ignorant of what the EU was or did, and also how the establishment is badly out of touch with this new world, which I felt explained a lot really. It was very simplified and dramatised and the caricatures of the politicians involved was pretty silly, but the main point I felt it was making was they really weren’t the point of this story, they were just those guys we saw on TV, political figureheads who weren’t even aware of who was really manipulating and controlling events, and them. Of course, how accurate this all is I guess we’ll understand as such ‘facts’ get disputed by those involved, but it certainly was a brain teaser.

The hefty price of right wing politics. I received a weighty public lashing when putting a man straight on a common lie about how much we pay and how many countries pay into the EU (just 4 apparently, usually 3) he was mouthing off loudly with conviction yesterday, neither shaken nor perturbed but surprisingly taken aback, only used to online venomous floggings when challenging the familiar plugged untruths doing the rounds. What is it driving people to become so angry, aggressively defensive and willfully ignorant over Brexit when what they are saying is challenged with facts? No debate or discussion just a shutting down of anyone not in agreement or collective denial. I dread to think the carnage if Brexit doesn't happen, I dread to think if it does. The Tories and right wing media in cahoots, it appears are driving and enforcing selfish divisive hate and stupidity not only with Brexit but policies that are creating the divide between rich and poor in money to grow exponentially. This avid man also claimed he's done very well with a Tory government...I didn't go down the road of letting him know how conversely thousands of people are far worse off and dying under the Tory trap of poverty. He'd already translated my refusal to argue with him as defeat and therefore he must be correct in his superior knowledge...which was factual bullshit! Now, do I print off the facts to counter his lack of understanding and give him, risking who knows what tirade of abuse or give a wide berth? How do we create unity under such toxic conditions? 🤔

Brexit is a complete shit show

I watched this show and found it interesting but very one sided. Very anti leave... made the voters look desperate or stupid and the leave campaign, as wreckless and crafty. I don't trust the vast majority of politicians, they are all currupt. I just see this production as the first step to pushing for a revote. Yet... think it may back fire as Cumberbatch was awesome, and it showed how out of touch politics is and how archaic those at the top are.
