Brian and Roger marked New Year’s Eve joining Sarah Brightman and X Japan’s YOSHIKI on the biggest TV show in Japan “Kohaku Uta Gassen” performing Yoshiki’s timeless hit “Endless Rain”. Because of current Covid restrictions Roger and Brian joined from their UK homes while Yoshiki performed from Los Angeles.
"This is such a beautiful project. I'm proud and honoured to be a part of it. Respect to Yoshiki!!! And wishing you all a great New Year," said Brian. "Have a beautiful New Year to all our fans in Japan," said Roger.
Yoshiki sent the message: “I feel honored and grateful to be performing with QUEEN and Sarah Brightman and all those Japanese superstars. I hope that through the music, we can give everyone courage.”

Queen lost Freddie Mercury and John Deacon already retired from the music industry. X - Japan lost Hide, Taiji and Heath. Even though both bands lost what is valuable to them but the positive message that they bring to us is to keep moving forward despite all the odds, be strong and united and continue to flourish creativity and appreciate life. Beautiful collaborations from Queen, Sarah, Yoshiki (X- Japan) and to all the Japanese artists who participated. 💖✨👏🎹🎸🎤

You can feel the intense emotion of the guys that will go their own way, and the sadness in the audience. Never in a million years would I have thought I’d hear Roger Taylor singing endless rain and Brian May doing his improv of the solo. If only Hide were alive to see this, he’d be freaking the fuck out. I’ve always noticed this, out of all the x songs, in the original endless rain, Hide’s solo sounds particularly similar to a Brian May style solo.

Hoffentlich wird X Japan dadurch außerhalb Asiens bekannter! Der Band-Name tauchte ja leider nicht auf in dem Video, aber wer Yoshiki kennt, wird den Weg bestimmt finden ... ;-)
