Brian Blessed - Why I want to be Chancellor of the University of Cambridge 

I wish he'd won. Within ten minutes of having Brian as Chancellor, they'd have put him behind a podium and hooked him up to a public address system, and then we'd have had a campus full of energized, enthused, inspired, and slightly deafened students.

Whenever I feel annoyed or am down for whatever reason, I watch this and it makes me feel so much better. This should be shown to all workers fearing Monday morning. Brian Blessed = absolute legend! DON'T LET THE BASTARDS GRIND YOU DOWN!

Brian has one of the best voices I've ever heard. He could play any character that requires a regal, or dominating voice ( whether it is hero or villain ). His voice could scare away tornados.

I wish I could be Brian Blessed. He's fucking amazing, and that's not an exaggeration. Just look up a list of his accomplishments, and the things he's done. He's been up Everest and boxed with the fucking Dalai Lama. Anyone who has done both of those things deserves to be recognised as the best human being in history.

I must confess, I was expecting to laugh when I clicked this video. I was definitely not expecting to be inspired. Were I in a position to vote for Chancellor of Cambridge (or however they do it), I'd vote for you, Mr. Blessed.

We love you Brian. One of those people that most can agree, is a national treasure.

Brian, probably more than anyone, is a man who thinks outside the box and has a positive, determined attitude. He clearly has a strong understanding of people and the world, and a ton of life experience... he'd be a perfect Chancellor.

Now, I talk about my "upbringing". My grandmother, Sylvia Jean MacNamara nee Free, bought me a "music box". It was not a normal rectangle box, it was shaped like a treasure chest. It had a ballerina inside. It played the theme, FILM. LOVE STORY.

This man would make Cambridge the best school. He is a living legend. And a fine human being.

I'd love to see one of his school essays. Written in all capitols, barely any cohesion between points and ends with a summary on cats. What a ledge

I know for sure that Brian Blessed has everything and more to become the chancellor of the University of Cambridge. His drive, his lifemotto gives hope and vision to be a student of Cambridge. He can bring Cambridge on a new level.

I've seen many deans & college presidents give speeches... but he really had me at 'You need to sweat blood for the underprivelliged'... he needs to 'do this job'!

I wish Brian Blessed would read stories to me all the time. I could just listen to him talk forever.

The man is a legend. Smart, funny, educated, and has more drive than any head of any school I have ever seen or met. If I had this man as a teacher, or Head Master, or Dean, which ever, I would probably have done infinately better. Because almost every teacher I had was dull, and uninterested, and just didn't want to be around kids. This man however... Well I like to think the video spoke for him. That and he punched a bear. ... In the face.

This surely is a man deserving of honours...possibly they wouldn't mean much to a man of his stature...but surely they should be offered...

You may have misunderstood my post - my key point was that I am not intelligent enough to get there, and neither were most of the people who applied for Cambridge (or Oxford) in my school year. Only three people managed to get to Oxbridge, and must say I don't think it's a coincidence that their parents were all very wealthy indeed.

I have to say, I disagree with his belief that anyone can go to Cambridge. I know that no matter what I did, I could never get there. Not on my own merits, anyway (i.e. I do not have rich or famous parents!)
