Brian Bromberg is one of the few bass virtuosos who is absolutely world class on both :the double bass and the electric bass. Unfortunately I Never had the opportunity to see ihm live, at least in Hamburg or northern Germany I never saw him perform here…
Underrated for sure. He never gets mentioned when the discussion falls on great bass players. However, in my opinion, his chops don't take a backseat to anyone's! Have at it man.
Happy New Year Brian! It would be wonderful to be able to enjoy this quality in a complete concert. It sounds excellent. Thank you very much for sharing.
OMG! This tune is the shit! BB is the Bomb! Like a little kid pretending, I've been doing drum cover tunes of BB on my RU-vid channel for years. How does a drummer, who has been studying 47 years, transcend into a project like this?? Perhaps in the next life..
Hey Brian, I saw you live in Idaho in 2001 while on a Jazz band tour from Jordan High School in Sandy, UT. Still have your CD "Wood" I bought at the show, still love it!
Love that Brian adds a tasty bit of vibrato here and there. There is a constant bass pedaling going on and I wonder if this is a prerecorded bass line or provided by keyboard. And kudos to Michael Paulo on sax.
Two bass player for the price of one but its impossible to see the second one !? …. it’s amazing that they use a bass recorded . i hope the two parts are played by the same bass player.
Quisiera saber; quien está haciendo el bajo base de fondo? Porfa 🙏 porque veo que la guitarra está haciendo otra cosa y que un teclado lo haga, también tengo mi duda!!
The other bass that you hear is my bass part from the record being played from Pro Tools live going into a bass amp on stage. I used to have a second bass player play live and go on the road with me, but it got really expensive as airline ticket, hotel room, and salary to play half the time and stand on stage doing nothing for the other half of the set when I payed the bass parts didn't seem fair honestly. One day I will have another bass player play with me (which I prefer) but until then the bass parts are correct, the guy never shows up late or misses a gig, never gets drunk and forgets the music, and saving that extra money can make it possible to do the gig vs. not being able to do the gig. I also don't have full horn sections all the time as well as it gets really expensive quickly. It Is what It Is, the challenges of trying to tour in 2024.
I am really late to the party, hearing Brian for the first time only a couple days ago.Although the music sounds a bit dated, I am deeply impressed with Brian's virtuousity.
